Arguably the best fine dining very authentic Japanese restaurant in Dubai, heavily patroned by Japanese expats and managed by Japanese, Tomo excels with its high quality authentic Japanese cuisine. For those looking for something special, you can get some premium ingredients here - they have Otoro (fattiest part of tuna belly) and Japanese wagyu beef and whilst not cheap are pretty amazing. The nigiri sushi is also amazing with the way the fresh fish is cut, pressed onto the rice and glazed / finished off - easily setting itself as premium trained sushi-chef sushi versus the countless standard-fare sushi around town.On Fridays theres a brunch which for what you get is very good value - so good that its very popular amongst Japanese and non-Japanese alike.Theres seating indoors and on the balcony (during the cooler months), and the venue is distinctly Japanese, classy but understated to complement the food rather than trying to present itself as a place to be seen.Service is excellent from both Japanese staff and non-Japanese staff alike - courteous, helpful and friendly. Theres also free parking and valet available.Highly recommended!

It feels like coming home 💛 My husband and I have always loved going to Tomo for quality authentic Japanese food. We came this time with his parents to celebrate his Mom’s birthday. We started off with a few drinks from their Happy Hour promo which is available the whole week 5-8pm. They definitely do not skimp on the alcohol and the cocktails were delicious, not too sweet or strong. Everyone was impressed with their orders. The Katsudon was a hefty serving, and the pork cutlet was juicy with the right amount of sauce. The Wagyu Gyudon (large) at first glance, you would think the serving is small but it was packed with flavour and was just right. You can also order a set meal. My husband had the Shoukado Bento which was a full meal in itself and included tempura vegetables and shrimp, grilled fish, tamagoyaki, miso soup and the special dish of the day. He had silken tofu with beef.If you’re craving for sashimi and rice, I recommend getting the Nama Chirashi Don. It included two slice each of Tuna, fatty Tuna, Salmon, Scallop, Herring, Tamagoyaki, Crab sticks and another fish I forgot the name of. My strategy was to try each slice on its own then the other with rice and the Shiso leaf. It was a match made in heaven. Oh and the rice also had minced tuna on top! Presentation was so thoughtful and lovely as well. I had tiny carrot butterflies and swirls on mine 💛We also ordered a vanilla cake roll to be served after the meal, and it was such a lovely way to end our dinner. It was light and fluffy, and just lightly sweet.Service was also good. One of their restaurant managers who had been working their for eight years, kindly accompanied us to the viewing deck and even offered to take photos of us.We’re definitely coming back again.

Ambience :The place has a Japanese inspired interior and a beautiful view of the skyline. The entrance is decorated with few Japanese ornaments and a small Japanese famous cherry tree.⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️Food & Drinks:Cocktails were very refreshing and tasty. The sushi was simply amazing. The presentation of the plate was superb. It was very fresh and very delicious. The main dish, was good too. It wasn’t as good as the sushi but still tasty. The main dish came with a bowl of rice and a bowl of soup, the soup tasted very good.⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️Service:Staff were super friendly, very attentive and helpful⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️Overall:You should definitely try it. If you go there for lunch and it is in the summer, stay away from the tables that are close to the window, the heat is a killer.

If u like authentic Japanese cuisine, this is the place to be. Being on the top flr, ull get an aerial view with minimum blockage from high rise bldgs, therefore best to visit during colder weather or during this hot weather, in the evenings if u like sitting outdoors. ☺️Ok back to their food, I ordered the business menu which comes with salad, sushimi (3 varieties, 2 pcs each) soup, rice & tempura (there are other main dish options) plus ice cream (also a variety of flavours). My husband had pork katsu-don.It can be pricy if there isnt any promotions.Jean, who served us was superb.. She was super patient, polite & cheerful.

Although Ive known for several years about Bill Cunliffes piano prowess, I wasnt that familiar with Reed Kotlers music when I got Torii Records Tomo CD. What a pleasant surprise! This is 65 or so minutes of well-written and well-performed jazz that is refreshingly new but easy on the ears. Tomo is Japanese for friends or soulmates. Thats the case here as saxman Bob Sheppard, guitarist Larry Koonse, bassist Darek Olds and drummer Mark Ferber all make solid contributions to Cunliffes piano playing and arranging. Try this, and youll put it into your regular play rotation for a long time.

Fine AfternoonTomo, one of the best restaurants for Japanese cuisine has been in my must visit restaurant and that I recently visited for lunch. The interiors are stunning, calming, wooden interiors cozy nook and corners, all adding to the elegance of the place. The lunch is priced at AED 105, which I believe is a value deal here. Started off with a Passion mojito, loved it, beautiful essence. Then came the boat an boat full of Delicious assorted sushi, sashimi, maki and all. This was a pure delight but it was a pity that in ended too soon. Then came the salad, multi green with asparagus. That was nice too.The mains we had two options, that was the chicken tempura and the salmon teriyaki. These two dishes were the highlight, The ingredients were fine and the finish was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. Service staff were good too, overall it was a fantastic experience

Now this is the 5 star japanese restaurant my husband and I kept on looking for! 😍 It took us a long time to scan through many apps and search through the internet finding a good legit japanese restaurant here in UAE, and finally found it! My husband ordered Miso Ramen (Special Size) and Chicken katsu, and I ordered Tokujyo (Chefs selection of diff kinds of sushi) and Kamo Zaru (Cold buckwheat noodles dipped in hot soup with leeks and grilled duck).. and everything exceeded our expectations!😍 Everything was balanced and on point.Next time well try the buffet 😍😁 My husband and I agreed that well be celebrating each special occasion here, from now on! 😀 Btw, one good info if you want to eat on a Friday: either you go for the brunch buffet for a fixed price or opt for the a la carté selection and get your desserts for free (same ones served in the buffet section).

Located on the 17th floor of the bent pyramid shaped Ruffles hotel in Dubai, Tomo is known for its stunning views of the Dubai skyline. I called in advance to book a place on the terrace and walked in at sunset time. The sky was turning into various shades of red and orange and the city lights were slowly coming on. The view was so breathtaking that I almost forgot about the food. But not talking about the food would be unfair to this restaurant, because the food they offer is awesome as well. I was informed that many of the ingredients are flown in directly from Japan and is of the highest quality. After trying out their pork belly and wagyu slices I tend to agree. The meat was flavourful and melts in the mouth like butter. One of the best Japanese food that I came across. The food, the scenery, nice cool breeze and warm service by the mostly Filipino staff, all adds up to an unforgettable dining experience. Yes, it is VERY EXPENSIVE (like most things in Dubai). But for occasions like this, I dont mind splurging a bit.
