Staff was friendly and the environment seemed relaxed and enjoyable. Found at the bottom level of Dubai mall, this sushi place has some good sushi. Sushi was fresh and very tasty. Our order came out quick and together. Drinks were very good too. Great experience!

Authentic Japanese food. Sushi lover it is highly recommended. Everything which is ordered is fresh and even by taste you can feel it. Their lime leech with orange drink is also recommended. Location is in dubai mall on Lower ground level.

The over all food experience is great, food is good and fresh. The palate knows that it is a good food. Inside dinning looks wonderful as the ambience looks nice and clean. Me and hubby are choose an outdoor dining last night, its not bad but I can say if they want to improve the outdoor area they still can... The sushi with fish was really good and super lovely and new creations. The vegetarian sushi though was not really special. I ordered normal Sushi and my girlfriend vegetarian one and she had to wait for like 30 minutes and my Sushi got straight away. So I was already finished. Service is nice, the position outside is not as lovely as other places.

Yesterday I visited Tanuki as this is my favorite sushi place in Dubai, they HAD the best Philadelphia rolls ever.Just look at two pictures and compare the quality that they had before and now. This is disaster! You just lost one of your most liable clients.

This is the first time I ever leave a review on a restaurant, mainly because I used to love this place. I visit Dubai every 4-6 months and would eat here every other day, but I’m sad to say that tradition ends today.The food’s quality has suddenly and tremendously dropped, including its presentation.I kindly asked why some of the sushi no longer even resembled what was listed on the menu and heard that the previous management experienced issues and now have a new amateur chef.I would now rather catch my own fish to make my own sushi, than pay 140+ ($40+) for this per person.

Food was good but service was awful. The waitress took our order and that delivered it and anything else in between and after that was a mission and a half. If the food wasnt good they would get a 2 star. We had to repeat requests and chase so long for the final bill I think we dealt with 5 different waiters to execute one request.

The sushi were amazing, compliments to the chef ! My family and I feasted on all the dishes served. The flavor and combination of the ingredients where phenomenal! We came for the wednesday promotion today but there has been a mistake in the information shared to us yesterday , however the manager was quick to apologize and honored the promotions even though apparently the promotion ended last week. Excellent sushi and hot Japanese food event though its pricey.

Ordered oshizushi and beef yakisoba. Well the yakisoba is not exactly what Japanese people can cal yakisoba but still it was tasty. The oshizushi was very nice with quite rich salmon in fat and flavoring was also exquisite!

Pan-Asian Cuisine is not easy to master, due to which many people tend to dislike it. However, if youre a fan of this cuisine or wish to change your perception regarding it, then Tanuki should be your number 1 choice. This place serves one of the most delicious Unagi Tofu, Sushi, Spicy Sake Gunkan and Tanuki Yam. Each of these items were cooked to perfection, well-seasoned, flavourful and piping hot. The beverages are also refreshing, chilled and tasty. The ambiance of this place is elegant, sophisticated and aesthetic. The presence of white trees gave an enchanting look to the entire place. So, if you want great food and an equally great ambiance, you know where to go!

One of the worst dining experiences I have had. We Ordered the Vegetarian Sushi, yet somehow it came with fish. The Mohito that was ordered had to be remade 3 times because the batista was away and the remaining staff were experimenting on how to make it. When we sat and ordered in the restaurant, we were the only people at the time, yet we got our food after people who came 15 and 20 minutes after us.Terrible service with uninterested staff.I struggle to find anything positive to say about the restaurant. 1 star is being generous.

Good food but the service was average.

Location nice, although more fast food look than fine dining. Service fast and orders came quick. Food was really good and price level reasonable. The chicken buns were definitely to be recommended!

So, after hearing so much about them, I knew I had to visit. They are located on the lower ground level of the mall. The interiors are aesthetically designed with cherry blossom trees, samurais in swords and so much more. You can either sit indoors or head outdoors for an amazing view. Since we visited during this cool season, we chose to sit indoors. We did sorta regret the decision though, as the service was slow. Also, I believe their prices are quite high for the portion and sushi rolls size offered. Im not sure if Id visit them again though, as it didnt live up to its hype.

After 25min of our order, we still got nothing. We ask and they bring 1 plate with cold food. And the other food came 15min later. Drinks never came. Food quality very poor.

As someone who used to dine here once every month since they opened, I am utterly disappointed at the drop in quality of food and service following the change in management.The menu though the same in writing, is now vastly different to what it was when served. I regularly order the Tanuki Kogase and it used to be perfection. This time around the rolls were too large, over filled with cream cheese and little to no carmelisation on the top of the salmon (the essence of this roll).The Spicy Unagi Gunkan was fine and tasted more or less the same.Service wise, some of the staff appear to be present just because they have to. The straw for my drink was just tossed onto my table when served. Perhaps not done intentionally however, I was sad to see the attentiveness and friendliness of the previous staff is no longer there.Unfortunately, I doubt Ill be coming back as often as I used to.

Restaurant with a largely Japanese menu. The food is ok, but its far from authentic Japanese.The restaurant is well decorated, with bright flashy screens, colourful origami, samurai swords and other decorations to give you a unique experience in Dubai Mall. However if youre looking for authentic Japanese you may need to look elsewhere.

This is Japanese restaurant, they server you with sushi, tomyam, salad, noodles, and deserts etc. The menu is good and very delicious. I go to this place as always if I visit Dubai Mall bc they have nice view from outiside terrace so you can see Burj Khalifa Tower while you eating🗼This place is very comfortable to have lunch and dinner with your family and friends. The price is affordable. Cant complain.👌🏼

Amazing new restaurant. Creative take on Japanese/Thai food. Square sushi and tanuki-yam soup (tom yum). Genuine and kind hostess and waiters/waitresses. The food was phenomenally fresh and tasty. Love this place. Hit it twice in a week and it was dynamite high quality both times.

Poor service. The manager is impolite and not considerate. Some foods are okay but the noodle weve ordered is too salty and sashimi is not fresh. Overall, the price is not worth it for the food and service they had.

My favorites are Tempura Nori, Dragon and Mame Nori. Very nice place, all we ordered was delicious!

I had recently visited the newly opened Tanuki at Dubai mall, located in the ground floor with a fantastic location, where you can sit inside if not on the outside, seeing the magnificent view of the Dubai skyline, Burj Al Arab and the Fountain. This it self is enough for me to fall in love with this place. The interiors are a fine mix of contemporary design with far eastern decors on the wall. Loved the tables made from half cut trees, fine wooded panels. Inside can sit over 100 people and the outside can gladly hold up to 70. Guess what, they have an interactive robot at the entrance, it can take commands, take order and even give you a discount on your order. How cool is that.Enough said, we move on with the food and beverages. To start we got the spicy Edamame, Loved the spicy rub of the chili on the beans and you would be glad to know that it was priced AED 20. Next we got the Tanuki Yam, this was not your usual Tom yam soup, this was different. This is their signature soup, coconut milk,shrimps, mussels, squid and wa served with rice.The have focused on the soup and and not filled with leaves and all. Pure pleasure having this fine flavour mix in the soup.hey had a wide selection desserts on offer and after much thought we picked the Mochi and Tiramisu. The mochi came in three flavours and we picked the mango to go with, loved the outer dough, not too hard but perfect consistency all around, loved it. The Tiramisu presentation was nice,the dark cocoa powder was a bit over powering, would have liked a less cocoa.Overall, It was a such a nice experience and I need to mention about Yanmin how was serving us through the evening. Such a pleasing personality and always with a smile, her suggestion on the menu was good, always helpful and cheerful. Sylvia who is the manager of the the restaurant was very helpful to, she checked on us from time to time and even suggested some items to try from the menu. Both of these ladies really made our time special.

A restaurant nicely decorated with Japanese theme, with a robot welcoming you in the entrence. We tried their sushi rolls and they tasted amazing, although the size could be bigger. A bit pricy as well but fair enough being inside the Dubai Mall.BUT...BE CAREFUL if you decide to go here with the ENTERTAINER Offer. In case you want to redeem the famous 2x1 Main Course offer actually youll be given away a sheet of paper as the photo with a limited selection only (you arent allowed to choose from the main menu). And also they set a limited number of vouchers that can be redeemed according to the guest numbers.

Terrible service and terrible food quality. Took 30 min for the food eventhough the restaurant is empty and the quality was bad. Waiter attitude even worse.

Opened recently in Dubai Mall. Tanuki. is a great place to enjoy far eastern cuisine. Lovely interiors and a fantastic seating area outdoors where you can see the Dubai skyline, Burj Khalifa and the water fountain.The food here is really good and value for money. Spicy edamame, Dim sum, beef teriyaki, sushi are all lovely. Service is top class. We had a grea time here, ask to be sit outside, you will not regret.

Don’t come at 11 pm weekday, they will not give you sit or take an order already, because closing time is 12. Wasted my time with coming to Tanuki. Will not come back and not advise this place.

Good food and service

Food ok, staff rather not very interested in serving customers. Somehow they do not serve all the orders at the same time.Update: tables with lighboxes are dirty. Roaches roam freely, and stuff is not interested in that. They will inform the manager. The dirtiest place I saw in Dubai.

You just have to wait for 40 mins then remind the waiter to place the order and he will come and yell at you! So impolite, rude afIf there is zero star, i would give it!

The worst service ever we faced, promise to serve in 10 to 15 minutes, and we were waiting 1 hour 10 minutes and every 10 minutes the same answer that 10 to 15 minutes food will be ready, i wish to connect with the management or at least the restaurant manager but no one able to answer. Very unprofessional staff and bad behaviour, i will never recommend such a place to family and friends.

Ive had better tasting and edible food from the food court.And if you write in your menu that this is crab meat, dont shred crab sticks and call them crab meat. Its 2 different things.

I came in with entertainer, where the rules of use were not told to me. In the end Im reason Im salty is that instead of 3 vouchers I was made to use 2. I went because I had multiple vouchers that redeemed the quantity of the food, which quite frankly even with the amount you order you still end up feeling quite hungry. The quantity definitely does not qualify the price.

Best sushi in town.

My recent experience at Tanuki was horrible. The food here is great apart from the tasteless watered down soy sauce on the table it’s the service that lacks. The waiters and manager were stern and unfriendly. We waited a long time for someone to take our order and had to keep stopping a passing by waiter as nobody came to our table even once to ask if everything is still in order. Our efforts in saying ‘Hallo’ and ‘Thank you so much’ were instead returned by a stern look and dead silence, we didn’t even get a simple goodbye while greeting the man that took our payment. Friendliness goes a long way.

Tanuki is using a fake strategy which is: getting free articles with Timeout and whats on along mentioning the same offers online on their website. But when you visit hey claim it is not made by them, and they dont know anything about it.When we spoke with the manager Larson, he claimed that yes it is mentioned in their website but the other team ( their team) is not removing it.When we visited he restaurant was empty , while restaurant around like Texas road house was full.Knowing that we tried to call them by phone , but no answer.Maybe the management strategy is attract the customer all the way their. And then u dont have a chance u have to choose them.If u looking for sushi in Dubai there are much better places, like sushi mori, samurai sushi and much more.

A gem in Dubai mall ! Amazing sushi, super fresh and modern take on rolls. If you are looking for authentic Japanese cuisine, nope. This more towards being playful and mixing great tastes. Good menu and cosy atmosphere. One of the better quality places in the mall and my to-go place. Highly recommended.

On Tuesday 10th of November 2020 i called the restaurant to do a reservation for two people asking them if the promotion of 50% discount is still there, the operator was welcoming enough telling me that “Yes sir we surely do have this promotion on going” i double checked on their website the promotion section was saying also that Tuesdays we do 50% discount on total bill. We went there, dined in we didn’t enjoy the food honestly! We asked for the bill, and we ended up paying a full bill, i asked for assistance, that why would i pay a full bill and you have 50% discount ongoing? She got frustrated and said ohh sorry wait i will contact the supervisor, she came back saying sorry you tourists? Said no! Its not my first time here! She Said im sorry sir but we don’t have the promotion anymore, i told her please bring the supervisor, then a chef or something came to us saying that the management was changed and promotion was canceled since march! and the staff is NEW!! How its a new staff? and they know about the promotion?!! Anyways he said that the website is damaged also!!! And they cant fix it. And the employee who answered us is new! I asked him how she’s new, how can’t you tell her about something that have been canceled from march”as you said”! Anyways that was complete fraud and disrespectful. Telling someone we have promotions and you end up paying in full. I’ve been eating at Tanuki for 2 years, i would never repeat it! Quality of food after the “new management” sucks also! You guys should really hire people that don’t lie. “he tried to give me a small discount i said keep it as a change for your NEW employees” it’s not about the money. It’s about Ethics.

Very disappointed experience, they are offering promotions that they dont have anymore. Even though they have advertising about those in different platforms (social media and magazines). Updated your offers, so people will not feel scam, when they reach to your place.
