This is a big thank you to Abdul and all the staff in the Red Lion British pub in the Metropolitan Hotel.After having a drink in the bar Christmas Eve, we decided to book the Christmas Day dinner.The chef (Abdul) and his team went above and beyond to exceed all expectations.The food was tasty and plentiful and presented to a very high standard.Will definitely return to The Red Lion on our next visit to Dubai.

Has already wanted to go there but this place is not so easily accessible even though it is just along the Sheikh Zayed Road. I ordered pork chop which was terrific! Good roasted smell and good textured French fries are the winners in this cozy British pub!

We decided for dinner at The Red Lion on a Friday. We arrived before 19h00, to have a few drinks before dinner. We got seated, not at the best seat, but not in the middle of smoking section as the non smoking section was full. We ordered our first drinks. A table opened in the non smoking section and we moved. The waiter saw us move as they had to clean the table. We eventually had to ask a not waiter if he would like to serve us, as the previous waiter was MIA.The food was good, but the service was slow.What was very disappointing is that the staff allowed customers to smoke in the non smoking section, while there was open areas in the smoking section. The disrespect to non smoker is shocking from the staff.

Manchester United official pub located in the Metropolitan Hotel on SZR. Has decent pub food and shows most of the live sports. They also do some great drink offers in Happy hour (call to find out exact details)

The original Red Lion revived in a beautiful new hotel setting and I knew the original Metropolitan Hotel and famous pub, probably the first of its kind in Dubai - the place that put our beloved city on the global map as a Middle East destination where alcohol was permitted! 😀🍻🥂Now frequently visited by locals by 6pm I see lots of guys unwinding after their working day in the sandpit. Theres definitely a cult crowd but not clicky. The Red Lion pub has sports TV, separate news TV, music and efficient, friendly waitress service. Theres also a varied menu - as you can see from the pics - a diner told me the sausage and mash is his regular order and the grilled chicken sandwich was tasty - not dry at all. If you love a British pub Id recommend the Red Lion revived!

The food was good but the service were pathetic. We waited 48minutes from our first drink to get the attention of another server as our server forgot about us. They also allow smokers to sit in the non smoking area.

They have happy hour from 4-8pm.Its actually a Manchester United pub. If youre a supporter then surely do try this place .. the drinks even without the happy hours were reasonable. A neighbourhood local done one. Cosy spot with a very British feel to it. Great homely food, good service and of course a great happy hour. Worth the visit

We went down to The Red Lion to try the much advertised Yorkshire Pudding Wrap and we weren’t disappointed! Excellent price at AED 60 for the wrap, with chips and gravy. Using an entertainer voucher and it was happy hour until 8pm made for a cheaper than expected night out in a surprisingly chilled out pub.

If you fancy a pint and to watch the sport in an English style bar a good place. Menu and food are also good plus there is a pool table and darts (If thats your thing). Its a big venue so best to go when its busy or there is a lack of atmosphere

Food was quite good and reasonably priced but the smoke drove us out. Wont go back while smoking indoors is allowed.

A British style pub that stinks of smoke...like no British pub in around 20 years! Seriously the smell hits you from way outside of the pub. It really is disgusting. The management need to sort that out.A decent IPA on the happy hour, like many of the competitors (which dont smell!) would also make me feel more compelled to return.

Food is good value compared to most bars and pubs. Quality is what u pay for. Floor staff are very good but only 1 guy behind the bar serving drinks but the Manager strolls around making himself busy without helping his staff or the clients waiting to get served

Great place to meet a few British folks and other Expats at happy hour at the bar after work (5pm through 8pm); always somebody there (including myself). Beers are also reasonably cheap at HH. Food questionable though (Indian chef doing British food - you know the score - the curry is good) but at least they have pork offerings. The bar staff are excellent; I never have an empty glass.

Hearty & scrumptious english food. Comfortable and inviting place to hang out. You can always see the manager going around chatting with the customers, nice guy. Value for money is the best; the portions of food is great, and they are very generous with the alcohol amounts. Fun music that makes us get up and dance, looking forward to seeing a live band there soon. Cant think of any negatives about this pub.

Decent, spacious bar and not too loud with small outside area. Food is very reasonably priced and well presented. Good variety of beers (much better than other places in Dubai) and wines are also reasonably priced. Do not order the espresso martini though

Convenient location at The new Metropolitan Hotel on Shk. Zayed Road. Great weekday deals on meals and drinks. Dont forget to catch The Firm, a superlative musician duo belting out the best of the 70s and 80s rock and roll from Fleetwood Mac to Pink Floyd who get the patrons involved! On Thursday evenings. A must visit on Thursday evenings!

Nice place to kick back after work for a drink with colleagues. Seats and tables are not in the best layout so its a little awkward when eating food, but the staff were very friendly and moved things around for our comfort

At first glance it looks like an outdated bar !!! But actually after moving from its previous location to the current one it has been designed to get Teh resemblance of the old Red Lion that during 80s, 90s and even early years of Millennium was one of the most attractive bars in Dubai. You can find the same style of service and get your favorite drinks with a reasonable price compare tp other neighborhood bars. Clicks your nostalgia!

Its a good place to chill! What I like the most is the happy hour, it is one of the cheapest ever plus the service is great!

Edit.Such a shame. Got the punters in then raised the prices, and effectively removed the happy hour for me as theyve revised it from 9pm to 7pm. I work late so cant make it and wont pay aed50 for a pint. Wont be seeing me and my friends until things change.Original.As a regular visitor of the original Red Lion I was eagerly anticipating the opening of the new one; however, it was very disappointing indeed. It was likened to a community hall and that was the perfect description. Bad decor, zero atmosphere and severely overpriced. The place was regularly empty, and rightly so.I was happy to hear that a new manager had been appointed and reading the social media posts (in particular about the prices) was keen to see if there had been improvement.Im happy to report that the change in the place is massive. Whilst not much can be done about the decor, the atmosphere is unrecognisable, with tasteful music at a reasonable level, and the buzz of fellow patrons.The food is of good quality and reasonably priced, although some dishes would benefit from the addition of a starch based side dish (beans are great, but with mash theyre awesome!). And the most important thing of all is that it is now a place that you can afford to visit; due to this The Red Lion is now a place I choose to frequent, rather than avoid.In the main the staff are good. There a a few that are awesome, and a couple at the opposite end of that spectrum, but overall the rating is good. Glen the manager is a friendly chap and great at ensuring his customers are being looked after. Hell always stop by for a hi, how are ya, which is important in a venue trying to emulate a UK pub; and hes always appreciative of feedback. Theres no doubt he has been key in turning this establishment around; a place which held a special place in many hearts.

So i am so not a brit but always like the whole british pub idea. have to say i have been to better british pubs in germany (even back home in KY we have a few good ones) while i lived there. obviously dubai prices for alcohol do not help but this place does not justify those prices like some places (almost) do in the city.
