A historic place showing the primal architecture of UAE and it’s heritage. Usually the place opens at the time of some cultural festival. Some stalls are available which also open during the festival time only. A very quite and serene place for enjoying solitude.

Must visitJazirat al-Hamra (Red Island) is the last authentic and traditional town still standing in the United Arab Emirates. Once a small island, its inhabitants subsisted on maritime and pearl trading before they abandoned their houses in the middle of the 20th century, when the rush to modernize started. An undisturbed picture of life before the discovery of oil was left behind and preserved until today. This is a unique area for Ras al-Khaimah and the whole of the country. Jazirat al-Hamra shows all elements of a traditional town, including a fortress for defence purposes, a small market (Suq), several mosques and a variety of house types. These range from simple buildings to ornate houses with courtyards which belonged to rich pearl merchants. Jazirat al-Hamra is one of the best places to study traditional coral-stone architecture, used along 11 Coast of the Arabian Gulf.

The old town is filled with many long-since-used building structures, some which arent looking too safe. The area looks to be under a slow restoration with some of it fenced off and some buildings looking restored or new.Theres not a lot to do here except to admire the architecture of the old village, even though many buildings are falling apart. Otherwise it doesnt appear to be a site intended for tourism.

The place is located near Heritage Village. There are a lot of old houses made originally from seashells and some kind of sea sand or rocks. All of the houses are damaged and ready to be demolished. Photographers may like to bring their models here. Not too much to do ... Do not forget to take water with you as there are no shops.

Its a decent enough place. Good to see old village architecture and their layouts. Completely abandoned. Nice place to click some photographs.Best time would be do visit at night on a full moon, or during late evening while light is still there. Dont expect a cab to come here for pickup. Either come by your own car, or have the can to wait for you.

Its an old port town near RAK. More can be found about the history of this town/surrounding areas from the RAK Museum. You can definitely enjoy the ambiance of how an fishing village in the Arabian peninsula used to be like a few centuries back. This town can have a creepy feeling if you visit it at night. During day time the wind does create some creepy sounds, but the speaking of pushtoon and seraiki labourers working closeby reduces the impact. There was a photo exhibition going on which if caught at night would give you the haunted feel.

God knows why the resident of this town left snd abandon this area . I heard its haunted but i didnt feel any such thing. Its a place for only those who got mysterious and curious mind. Not everyone can enjoy these type of tourist destination. There is no entry fee and car cannot go in each and every place . The pats are bushy now. But love to see many rooms and big varandas type houses.

The eighth edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival will celebrate Connected Communities. Built around shared spaces and commonalities, communities imply genuine connection. Yet what does community mean in an increasingly globalized, technology-driven world? Through this theme, the Festival seeks to explore the many ways people build relationships with others, their surrounding environments, and the natural world. It offers an opportunity to consider past, present, and future while questioning the extent to which intimacy and sense of place can actually be scaled. Through art in all its forms, the Festival hopes to bring to life the many profound ways we experience community and the collective power they have for shaping our small, respective corners of the globe. The Festival is famous for its large-scale visual arts and sculpture installations in Al Jazirah Al Hamra Heritage Village (which was once known as the Ghost village of RAK). Inauguration was done by His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi. Luckily, I even got a chance to meet him. the exhibition will open for public viewing from 1st February till 31st March 2020. .Two paintings of Shiba Khan & Three of my photographs are part of this prestigious festival, which are installed in & outside Bayt-6 & Bayt-1. Apart from this we got to meet so many fellow artists who were also a part of it ... congratulations to them too ...It’s indeed one of its kind of exhibition, so take out some time & visit this not to be missed exhibition.——————————-#alqasimifoundation #marjanisland #RAK #festival #UAE #artistsoninstagram#RAKFAF20 #ConnectedCommunities #FineArtsFestival #ArtExhibition #ContemporaryArt #UAEart

Very interesting place to visit, it is very simple and genuine at the same time. Just a pile of ruins on the surface, but a lot of interesting details can be found by the attentive visitors. Notice that most of the houses are made of corals. Also explore the house of a wealthy villager beside the mosque.

This is a derelict site. Not a sanitised tourist spot. It is not managed and rubbish and litter are around. However if you can see past this and you take care, it is an interesting place to explore. The really old dwellings made of coral and adobe are falling down, this exposes the way the walls were constructed, wells and courtyards, are easy to identify and newer buildings made of shell and coral composite bricks give a nice comparison. Explore the narrow streets, a spring, old style windows and discover odd left behind pieces of domesticity. A bit of detective work and some imagination helps.

The whole area is currently a work in progress as old buildings are restored, and some new items added. During 2018 it was fascinating as you could still feel the atmosphere of an abandoned place (it was know locally as the ghost village). Its hard to guess when the restoration will be finished but in 2019 you can see artisan builders doing the restoration work and enjoy going around the area and trying to imagine how it once was. Worth a visit if you are nearby, but Id not suggest making it an objective if coming from, say, Dubai.

A derelict and abandoned Arabian, pearl fishing village dating back to the 1800s. Believed to be haunted by locals and visitors alike, many of whom have experienced strange and paranormal activity throughout the village. I didnt hang around long enough to find out and would only go there in day light. If you want to go at night fall you will need a torch and appropriate attire to do so.You will find yourself left to your own devices to explore here, there are no guides or outlets or informations centre to look after you when you get here. Not for the easily spooked but an interesting insight into the past, can be made a fun day out with some imagination!
