This national museum of Ras Al Khaimah is built on traditional fort architecture with a large central courtyard and buildings on all four sides housing the exhibits. If its quiet, it can be quite leisurely and relaxing to stroll through the few buildings that you can enter and view various items on display from ancient to old to modern. Like many other museums in the UAE, theres not heaps on display but if you are interested in old artifacts theres a few to be seen here.Theres free parking out the front and a small fee to enter.

Small museum, at the venue of an old fortress, giving a good idea how people used to live in these places.Made out of traditional limestone, fossilized sand and corals (materials with no particular good structural but excellent insulation properties), it used to be a defense fort, the residence of the ruling Quwasim family and police headquarters before being turned into a museum in 1987.In Aug 2021 significant parts of the museum were under renovation. You can tour it in half an hour.Entrance fee: 5 AED.

Its a beautiful and quiet museum. At one point, I was the only guy inside the museum and some staff. I spent 2.5 hours there but its not enough. Theres so much to explore. I climbed to the top of the museum and it offered a stunning view. Staff is very friendly.Tip: They give you Arabic coffee to try - you can have as much as you want.

I always like to visit museums and historical places when i visit a new destination. I appreciate seeing things like this. Museum on ras al kaihmah is just located in the city. I stayed in hudaiba area, its 16aed by taxi. Upon reaching there, they have a waiting area, during this pandemic they ensure all safety measures are observed. The place is peaceful.

What a waste of time, such a disappointing experience. The fort is still being modernised which defeats the object of admiring an old fort. Exhibits are few and far between, most rooms are empty, I would recommend NOT going until at least 2021 as so much work needs doing to this museum ( certainly a lot of poetic license used to call this place a museum !! )5 Dirhams to get in and an hour drive from Dubai..... the pictures shown virtually show everything you will see here, even the obscure Arabian manikins at the entrance. One to miss in my opinion !!

A really nice small little museum that has been established inside an old fort. The museum gives you an great insight in to the histroy of RAK starting from as back as 5000 BC. The best part is that despite being in a very old building, the musuem is 100% accesible with ramps for all stairs as well as to go on the second floor. A few areas of the musuem are still under development yet there is plenty to see.The rooftop view is oretty nice and you can get a nice burds eye view of RAK.The staff is very nice, courteous, and very helpful. The tour is ended with a complimentary Arabian coffee.Parking is plenty and very convenient. The Google Maps however keeps on sending you in loops so just look at the map once and make sense as to where the entrance is.

The Ras Al-Khaimah National Museum is in a fort that was the residence of the ruling family up until the early 1960s.The museum houses an excellent collection of archaeological and ethnological artifacts. The Qawasim Room on the first floor is particularly interesting, with a collection of documents, manuscripts, and treaties between the rulers of Ras Al-Khaimah and Great Britain. There are also exhibits of traditional weapons belonging to the ruling family, as well as archaeological displays about the earliest settlers in the area up to the late Islamic period. The museums ethnographic section introduces traditional life in the emirate, including architecture, pearl diving, date growing, farming, and fishing. To learn more about the region, the Private Full-Day Tour of Ras Al-Khaimah delves into its cultural and historical sights, as well as showcasing its scenic coastal scenery, with plenty of photo stops along the most scenic parts of the Corniche and at the marina along the way. Major included sights are the museum, Dhayah Fort, and Jazirat al-Hamra. All transport including pickup and drop-off from Ras Al-Khaimah hotels is included.

Immediately after entering you will feel that this museum has been lovingly designed and that people really enjoy working here. I received a very friendly welcome from the staff. Shameem offered me Arabic coffee to strengthen me and I was able to rest in the Majlis. (I came from Nakheel on foot at lunchtime.) He also explained the exhibition to me in great detail and gave me information material. The place is great. You feel the spirit of the old days here. I found the exhibition on dates very interesting. I was also very impressed by the wind towers. Basically, it becomes very clear here how clever the Arabs have been from the earliest times. What impresses me most in the Arab world is that everything has a system and is intelligently thought out. Thank you very much for the hospitality and the patience with which all my questions were answered. I spent a wonderful afternoon here.

5 Dirhams entry fee for each adult. The start of the museum may not seem much, but keep walking. There is a courtyard in the middle of the building containing the exhibits. There are 2 levels. The first level of exhibits will show many specimens: shells, sponges and other creatures collected from the sea around UAE, as well as the boats and fishing/diving equipment used by the old fishermen of this country. On the second level, you will see empty rooms of the old Emirati traditional house: the material it is made of, the size of the rooms, the structure and architecture. There are steps going up, to the top of the whole museum, where from an elevated hut (like a short tower), you will be able to see a lot of Ras Al Khaimah, the sea on one side and the mountains on the other. A very nice place to visit and learn about Emirati history, for a small price. Toilets are also available in the museum.

For 5 dirhams entrance fee, you get to see the history of Ras Al Khaima and have an overview of the life in the past. Discovering how they have lived the life before made us appreciate the life we have now. The museum is not that big but its worth a visit. You can find antequities, ancient vases, fishing and hunting tools and many more. Bring your kids so they become exposed to our ancient history!

Once serving as the residence of the ruling family, the Ras Al Khaimah National Museum is one of the best spots in RAK.The exhibits in the 19th-century fort range from the Neolithic era up to the Islamic age, displaying various weapons and manuscripts. There are also some treaties signed between the RAK rulers and Great Britain.Late Fort was originally constructed from coral stone, a fossil building material originating from the sea. Although being fairly light-weight it possesses excellent insulation qualities, keeping buildings cool in summer and warm in winter.

Do you know what happens when you leave a child in a candy store? The same goes with this museum for an archaeologist. The history that goes back 5,000 to 6,000 years, the bones, the tools, the jewellery made from simple items that we take for granted. The museum also gives its visitors an inside view on how the Ruler of the Emirate lived, since it also was used as a meeting room where the ruler met the people. Two to three hours will be sufficient to enjoy this museum.
