Well arranged, spacious restaurant serving quintessential Kerala cuisine along with a decent spread of Indo-Chinese and Continental dishes.Service is attentive.Tried their Chicken Biriyani, which at AED17 was quiet good, apt for an average adult. While Notebook’s Biriyani doesn’t take any accolades for being the best, it was good.Fresh Milk Tea was refreshing. This place is family friendly, with exclusive dining area (separated from the central dining space) arranged for families.
We had a yummy time at Calicut notebook restaurant,Lulu branch in barsha .. the staff is so kind and gentle .Service is excellent . We ordered mushroom Malabar and Paneer mango curry with Tandoori Roti.. paneer mango curry was our favourite while mushroom dish was fine . They have many options in the menu, will be trying some more ! As of now , if you are tired with shopping at Lulu , And are craving for a rich Keralite flavour in the tastebuds ,then This place it is!
Very tasty food with a variety of good twist to enhance the falvours of food. The best drink would be _the bad habitStarter _chicken fried in palm leavesDish _appam and chicken curryDesert _banana pancakes with ice cream
Bought “Aleppy Chicken Curry.” Found no value in the dish. It was soupy. Beef Fry. No quantity, dry and overcooked without any coconut. Veg Malabari, it had a burnt flavor. Low veggies in the dish. Basically 3 pieces of cauliflower in burnt masala water. I was heavily disappointed.
One of the best Kerala resturant in dubai (1st floor in lulu hyper market al barsha). You wont regret in the food whatever you ordered. You will get very delicious tasty food .The Price is a little bit high compared to other restaurants but the quality and taste of the food are excellent. For lunch and dinner this is the benchmark restaurant in Dubai.
Together with my Indian friend and colleague we went having dinner is this restaurant. He promised me it would be great. I really like to taste new foods, and Indian is also one of my favorite. It is located in a mall and we went upstairs. Nice big restaurant. Service was good and my friend ordered the food in Indian so i could not understand ;) The staff was afraid i could not handle the spice, but my friend assured them is was okay. We had some delicious food. Cauliflower, chicken prawns... really nice flavor. My friend said they still cut some in the spiciness but that was okay... Price including the drink for 2 persons was about 125 Dhs so very reasonable .
Loved the food and super fast service. Very neat and tidy too. Good food, must have 👍👍
Best in the area by far!I ate out in different place but,I came back to Calicut because the food was delicious fresh and inspired. The staff were very polite and the restaurant was clean and tidy both during my lunch visit and my evening return.Id suggest trying the chicken screwdriver for kids...
Destination for good choice of South Indian food. Rich Kerala style food, homely preparations. I loved their choice of fish curries, fries. Nice restaurant whether its with family or friends. Staffs are very much attentive and serves good.
Lured by the advertisement from Calicut Notebook for sumptuous onam sadhiya lunch on 21st August, we went to relish the same. There were very long queues and we have waited for more than 100 minutes before starting our lunch at 2.45pm. Merely 15 items were provided against 25 numbers as per the advertisement. I think the restaurant authority was never anticipated about the outcome on that day
Love this place for their delicious South Indian food. Went there dozens of times and never been disappointed. Ambiance is quite shabby and restaurant interior needs a renovation , but food is always five stars 😋
I was Visiting from the US and have heard about this authentic kerala restaurant in the Al Barsha area of Dubai. Was very impressed. Meals with various curries and sides. There are way too many options in terms of meat, sea food etc. The staff is very friendly and is constantly asking for seconds or thirds. Its also attached to a Lulu mall which is very convenient.
Food is good and tasty. Service is good. Have been dining there fore several years when I come to Lulu Barsha for shopping
Onam sadhya -Take away on FridayOverall- very goodVariety- ExcellentPacking-ExcellentQuantity-ExcellentTaste. - Good
Its ok if you like south Indian thali. Fish was tasty but small portions.
Average taste, Expensive. Chicken smelled as if was frozen for long time. Hamoor fish in Mango Curry had only bones (other restaurants serve boneless and had expected the same here, but...). Staff was good and place was hygienic.
Fantastic food. Try their pan grilled Hammour. Amazing texture of tastes. Creamy, spicy that hits your palate and yet trusting the taste of the sea.
Onam sadhya was good to taste...but staff wasnt attentive and they lacked service. 2nd servings werent offered. Buttermilk and payasaam was served like Shots. The amount paid for the sadhya atleast calls for good service with generosity .
Had booked onam sadhay two days back for Thiruvonam on 21st Aug.. (For today). Well packed box... Opened it and it was disapppointing..... The banana leaf dried.. Broken multi colored with more of dark brown, brownish yellow wiith pacches of light green. It was a huge disappointment... Opened all the pack... Parippu missing...which is one of the main ingredients for a sadhya.... Thank you Calicut note book for screwing up the year 2021 Onasadhya.. Know you guys dont care since you all would be laughing all the wayto the Bank with the profits you made with the exorbitantly priced socalled sadhya ypu dishd out...
Fish curry meals is great quality and taste. Rest is all hyped up. Very expensive compared to Paragon. Paragon is top class.
Not satisfied. Bad service. Quality of food not very good.
One word...Delightful..if you need good Malabari Flavour...this is the place you should be inThe curries especially chicken curry (coconut milk based) with Appam was one of the finest that i had in the recent years. Pomphret dry fry was another experiment..succulent...juicy and tender and the taste is still fresh in the mouth. Humur tawa fry was spicy yet quite yum.In the end they serve some real good tea and its a must as wellLoved the dining and it surely is in our regular list.
Recommended to visit this place as they serve very tasty food. Try their Kanthari fish and Kanthari Chicken at least once
Yesterday we got the parcel from here. And the Beef curry was below than the average with a lots salt!!! And there was no flavor of beef in the gravy as it’s someone mixed the cooked beef in to a prepared thick gravy!!The beef curry gravy look rich like kuruma but not even felt the taste of fresh coconut ( not even have a good flavor).Even other small local shops serve far better beef curry than this. The beef fry was ok but the gravy coming along with that was spoiled and smelly ( expired oil smell). If u don’t have then don’t serve the gravy better than spoiled oneTried many times in al qusais branch and can’t even compare the Calicut note book food quality with this branch🤦♀️
Not a healthy choice. Too much oily and spicy dishes.
Comparing with last time they have improved and cam bavk to there peak performance ,I would say
Good food.Kerala style..must try
One if the few good restaurants where you can taste authentic cuisine of the Malabar Coast from the state of Kerala in southern India. Great service and reasonably priced. Weekends can get a bit crowded and waiting time of 10 to 15 minutes may need to be endured but its worth the wait. Must try.
Located within the Lulu hypermarket building, a south Indian restaurant serving malayali food.Quick service, plenty of seating space, friendly staff, delicious food if youre into malayali cuisine and reasonable prices. The ambience is nothing to talk about but it is not bad considering the fact ambience wasnt their primary focus.Being part of Lulu means theres a lot of free parking.
Good food and very good staff
Decent place. Liked it because it was little different. Not like any other Indian restaurant with same menu. The menu is different and they have good variety
Very few items in vegetarian meal, most of the times payasam is slightly burnt . Whereas Sharjah Calicut notebook is just feast for a meal.
One of the best dum chicken biriyani
Best Meals in the area ,with their hamoor fry
Food is average only. Price reasonable. Special items available at high prices but below average quality. Inside is a bit congested. Wide area parking available. Inside lulu shopping mall.
Average food only and taste is not worth for the price. But the ambience, service and hygienic is superb..
Egg fried rice is recommendable. Liked it
Food- Simply Delicious!!!we went for blanket Fish Fillet -quite filling , big chunks of fillet tied with small leafy thing, lemon pepper grilled prawn in starter.Mouth melting and spicy.Appam with varattiyathu curry (hope i spelled it rt :-P) plus parithi(reminded me marathi style bhakri soft and it suited well with curry). This semi dry chicken curry is spicy and super tasty .Please new customers note the asterisk in menu- the food which are charged per piece are marked in asterisk !Service- Prompt in less than ten minutes our food arrived .They offered watermelon juice as complimentary before we started our meals which was quite refreshing and also special kerala pan plate which was ok too.Ambience - pleasant but was crowded ofcourse their delicacies must be truly nice .staff- friendly and politeBudget - good for two people , who wants to go for heavy meal it will cost around 100
Long wait to get in, food was amazing..
Very good and delicious food is available here ..
I would have given 5 stars if not for the chicken pandanas. These seemed burnt and lacked any flavour. When asked, it was apparently cooked that way to bring out the smokey flavour. However the mutton stew, prawn mango curry paired with hot steaming appams were lip-smackingly and finger-lickingly good!
Very bad service after waiting for long time waiter saying you order is canceled at Albarsha lulu
Neat and clean,Good staffs , Authentic Kerala style food
Food was fine and service was good.
One of the worst dinner we had recently,Kandhari Chicken Tawa, thats only the best choice on the ordered list ..Butter chicken, but they served something else look like butter chicken.Seabream pollichathu This is not a pollichathu, it wrapped the fish with banana leaves, and also its smelled something.Beef Varattiyath, which is about 1/2 onion Varattiyahu,Chicken Nadan Curry, chicken floating in water,And also they stopped serving welcome drinks and salads. In short, they providing cheap quality food at a high price.
Best Kerala Cuisine in Barsha area,,
Good taste...highly recommended fish ilayl tawa fry
Good lunch ... delicious in kerala style
A Complete savour foods. Real Taste of authentic Malabar Cuisine, I enjoyed it.
I had chicken dum biriyani and it was good and tasty. The chutney provided with the biriyani was amazing and the quantity of biriyani is more. Masala of the biriyani was very tasty. My companions ordered Kerala rice meals. They have provided the curries in small cups with less quantity. And everytime they have to call the staff to refill the same and sometimes the staff doesnt like that from their expressions. My colleagues told the taste was not so good. Only average. When we entered here, we had waited for a long time to get our things ordered and after ordering also it took more time to get all the items. The same restaurants branch in Al Qusais is very good comparing to this.
Good Restaurant. Waiting skills / customer care van be improved.
Visiting there as there is no nearby Kerala restaurant when you are shopping from Lulu Barsha. Food is below average compared to the traditional taste of Kerala. There is a lot of room to improve.
Delicious food !! Its almost my everyday lunch 🤣...
Yummy place for fish lovers and Awesome tea.
Tasty and hygienic Indian food at affordable prices. The weekday lunch thali is nutritious and very economical. I am visiting regularly for lunch
Amazing quality food with amazing prices. I love Tilai Tawa Fish.
One among the few the best kerala restaurant in varsha. The biriyani is one of their best
Kerla cousinTaste is good clean atmosphere.Following covid protocol .But expensive Restaurant
Call there many times for order food no one Picking it up.
Such a great restaurant for worst food ...We order mutton soup & get a delicious non-veg resam ,next comes starter to inform don’t go for main course..., at last main course with a magic recipe which speaks to us “ thank you , dont visit again “NB:- low quality food with high price 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
The guys taking orders are too busy to take order, or forgets what the order was. This happends twice. Dont visit the place if it is bit busy. They dont know how to handle it.
Even not worth for single star, unfortunately Google is not giving an option for it. Literally serving worst food with fancy names. No doubt still this restaurant exists, since there is no other option for South Indian cuisine restaurants for family in Barsha and its situated in Lulu Center.
A good restaurant with delicious food variants and good staffs. Recommended!!
Steam cooked fish wrapped in banana leaves with authentic spices from India is a treat for your taste buds !
Dont miss to try the kandhari chicken or fish. This is the best dish. Also they have good weekend combo meals.
I had the sadhya veg thali and my husband had the non-veg thali and I can tell it was one of the most authentic experiences I have had. The food was delicious. Its my go-to place for Kerala cuisine.
I am a frequent visitor to Calicut Notebook, except for last couple of months. A big fan of their Meal especially on the weekends. For a change their veg meal used to be 12dhs and has now increased to 20 on the weekends consideration few additions in the meal and Banana leaf serving.Still worth your money, delicious food all around. Must visit here at any point of time either lunch or dinner. They have many branches all over and with their south Indian food specialty they will increase more..
Had thalassey biryani. Was simply great
Good food. Good staff. I had fish curry meals. Everything tasted good.
One of the worst restaurant in Dubai. Last night me and my friends have been there for a birthday party ,beginning from the soup till the dessert everything was worst and we had got a bill of AED 400. The bread iteams were all half cooked and when we complained they said the bread is soft ,thats why you felt so.
I think few dishes are good but what I ordered was a complete mess. Mutton korma was a mix of artificial coconut milk, a utter disaster..given chance to improve but nothing happened...
