Great location in downtown JW Marriott Marquis hotel. On the 4th floor, you have to walk along a well designed mood lit corridor until you reach the bar and smoking area. Then onto the private dining booths and into the main restaurant. Open kitchen behind glass panels so you can see the chefs at work. Food was absolutely fantastic. Portions are big too, maybe too big! Prices arent bad.

Awesome ambience with great Indian cuisine. My guests from US wanted to have Indian food and they loved the dinner here, according to them, this was the best Indian food they have ever had. The Service was excellent and welcoming. Pricing is little expensive but the quality, taste and atmosphere would justify it

Rang Mahal experience was as incredible as anticipated. I admire Chef Atuls work and consider him a mentor, so no surprise that I loved everything I ordered. The location is amazing. Grand palace like decor, overseeing the water and amazing lights of Dubai, it creates a perfect backdrop for the royal treat you enjoy!I loved the seasonal vegetarian entree I ordered. The asparagus was grilled to perfection and topped with a tasty mix of vegetables cooked with a south indian flare.

Dont go for the battle of chefs if you want to have a conversation with your co-diners. The background music was loud, and a very unpleasant presenter was interviewing the guests about their opinion, regardless if they wanted to or not. The acoustics of this spectacularly furnished restaurant are very bad, the food was equally spectacular . But the atmosphere ruined what could have and should have been a unique experience . Sad...

The place is really nice and has a great ambience to it. The staff is very hospitable. They go that extra mile to make you feel at ease. Good variety of wines/spirits available as well. The one star less that I have put on there is because of very minimal vegetarian options in the menu. For an Indian restaurant it was bit difficult to digest that there is limited veg options. Also be aware about a kids policy, if you are going there with kids, please inform upfront so they can have the family room open for you. My daughter behaved and we still stayed in the main restaurant but I was advised if the kid makes noise etc, then I will be asked to move.

Overall, it was one of the best Indian restaurants we’ve tried with the finest food and flavors. Chef Amrish explained the dishes in details which was fascinating. The service was excellent. The staff is well trained and professional. The Iftar menu is priced more than average but it is a complete fine dining experience. I’d highly recommend Rang Mahal!

Our dinner at Rang Mahal last night was simply memorable .. almost idyllic. First and foremost we must thank Nihar Barve the Restaurant Manager for his exceptional hospitality and guidance that made our evening special. Hailed from Benares in London, the “Parent” of Rang Mahal if you may, Nihar was not only knowledgeable his gut feel for what diners desire was right on. We followed his every recommendations and loved them all. The “Street Food” Amouse Bouche was quite an eye opener .. the salivating Tandoor Mixed Grill .. the Lone Scallop with “Yin-Yan” yogurt and curry sauces .. the perfectly cooked Sea Bass .. the Lamb Stew that melted away from touch .. not to mention the Biryani my Piece de Resistance! The meal was not cheap by any measure but it was worth every AED. We were told there are quite a few “Rang Mahals” around the world but they are not under the same roof. With tutelage from Benares and Nihar at the helm this one is unique, and what a pearl it is in the desert. Nihar you are a real pro .. keep it up .. we will find a reason to return, hopefully soon.

A very dissapointing experience saved by Chef Saked (hope I spelt it right).I booked a table for my wife and I on Valentines Day as there was an offer:7 course meal for two with one drink each and pick up and drop off chauffeur service for AED 1000.Whilst this wasnt a bad deal, I since realised that other equivalent restaurants were offering the same for AED 500 (without pick up and drop off). Here are reasons why we didnt like this place, which will be followed by what was the saving grace.1) The driver turned up 1 hour late from the agreed time (he left his location at the time he was supposed to arrive at my residence) and only arrived after 6 phone calls giving directions, speaking to numerous people on the street telling them where I was, and 2 more phone calls after that. I honestly dont live in an off the track area. This never happens when new people visit me.2) Upon arrival at the restaurant, I asked to speak to the manager to convey my frustration as it was late and our night hadnt begun with a great start. The manager Feroz said that he would discuss this after dinner. I was fine with that.3) Upon viewing the set menu for Valentines Day (this was never advertised on the offer and was kept hidden) there was fish in one of the courses and my wife does not eat fish but eats shellfish. We asked if this could be substituted. This was arranged after 4 trips by the waiter to the kitchen for approval and back.4) The portion sizes were horribly small. In 90% of the courses there was literally one tiny prawn/chicken piece for us each. But I must say the presentation was awesome. I dont know how even at a fine dining restaurant, that could be considered a course.5) We thought that as were going to an Indian restaurant, there will at least be one curry dish. There was no curry dish, except for some lamb served on a hopper. It was probably 15% of what youd get in another restaurant. Again, if you werent interested in eating and had already eaten a meal but come here to appreciate presentation, this may have been a good experience.6) Just before the final dessert came, I told my wife that we would have to go somewhere else to grab another meal as none of us were even slightly satisfied, even though it was midnight at this point. This was when the chef came to ask if everything was ok. I then pointed out that this entire experience was far from the high expectations we had from this restaurant - considering the price we paid and the level of service and quality of food that we expected. The taste wasnt phenomenal either. The chef advised that he would bring out some more dishes and he also pointed out that we could have repeated a course if we liked, if the food wasnt enough. This was something that the waiting staff did not inform us of before our dining experience began and even when we highlighted about our dietary restrictions, and asked whether we could just repeat one of the courses, he had to check numerous times with a manager. In the end, the food turned out to be ok at best and we didnt have to go to another establishment to feel like we had just eaten a meal. This was an annoying experience from the beginning and what frustrated me more was that the manager did not attempt to fix the problem, knowing full well we were upset. He just came and defended himself saying the driver was stuck in traffic etc. There was no empathy. It seems as though only the chef had the ability to turn our experience around.Hats off to the chef.We highly recommend that you do not go to this restaurant on a set menu day, and never accept any pick up and drop off. There are much better restaurants with the same level of exquisite fine dining, better tasting food, satisfying portions, friendlier staff and much much better prices.

We tried the Navratan 9-course menu and were completely bowled over! We started off in true street-food style with an ode to the humble Aloo Chat – crispy fried potato cake, seasoned yogurt, tamarind chutney, grated radish along side Jal Jeera with Vodka & Mint ( totally works). Followed by a play on classic Baingan Bharta – Roasted aubergine and peppers but served with burrata cheese, coriander, garlic & kasuri salt. n our next course, not an ingredient you’d find used much in Indian food, Rang Mahal’s Lasooni Scallops with caramelized garlic & textures of cauliflower ( done two ways – like a pakora batter fried and creamy char-grilled) were exceptional. The Meen Moilley that uses the line-caught sea bass is Chef Atul’s signature dish and is easy to see why. So many elements in this traditional South Indian fish curry are refreshed. From the subtle curry to the more robust Limbu Rubiyan – plump shrimp, green lime, coriander and mint in a green korma sauce. Paired with a light cruncy radish salad. While the house made berry sorbet cleansed our palate, we were mesmerized by the drama that unfolded on our table in the name of the dessert course. The chef presented his work of art and explained each of the desserts – from a baked yogurt cheesecake (reminiscent of the Bengali mishti doi), cassata kulfi, gulab jamun and chocolate delice.Highly recommend! by Foodie Fabulous Zomoto
