This takeaway joint leaves you wanting for more.. It was one of my colleague who introduced me to this restaurant. The Kizhi porotta is a perfect meal with Kerala porottas layered with beef or chicken curry, then wrapped in banana leaf.Their Friday special, the Chicken roast biryani is definitely to try.In case you take help of Google map, please note that this place is recently renamed as Burj Al Arab Restaurant

Highly recommend pocket friendly restaurant with mouth watering & lip smacking cuisines that take you back to routes of Kerala!! Highly nostalgic kerala street foods are also available!! My favorites are Kappa Biryani, Kizhi Porottas, Dosa Rasa Vada set, Obviously Biryani, Pazham Kanji and almost all....I visit here almost every week!! Cant resist my cravings when it comes to this savoury & highly palatable naadan dishes!! Loving every bite!!

I have eaten from here several times and the conclusion is the taste and quality of the food is not consistent. Another important thing to add is, in the last 6 years of me in this country, this is the only restaurant I found who does not accept card payment and they sounded like they are proud about it. Meanwhile the entire world is moving towards contactless payment methods, this place is stuck in 1980s.Food - AverageSafety - Below AverageLocation - Good

Budget friendly...The Thattu Dosa Set i had today brought back the same experience of thattukada serving we used to get back in kerala.I had previously rated them 1 star few years back for their bad service.. A Visit to Gaffurkas Thattukada, Al Qusais, Dubai, UAEIts registered name is Burj Al Arab Restaurant but its known as “Gaffurkas Thattukada” in. The name is derived from a Malayalam movie character and it has lot of local delicacies of Kerala. The food was really amazing. I had pazhamkanji and my friends other Nadan varieties, all were excellent. A very ordinary setup but large varieties of extremely delicious and delighting food.. The service is good with very friendly staff and the interior of the restaurant indicates the local restaurants of Kerala. I will be recommending this to my friends and family who will sacrifice a 5 ⭐️ seating arrangement for their love for delicious food. This place is very budget friendly.

This review is solely based on the food and value for money. The first time I was taken here by a couple of my members from my extended family, I was turned off by the interiors and the crowd (only men the day I went first!). But the food was delicious, though oily. Absolutely love their idiyappam biryani. Idiyappam is a dish Ive never liked, even during my visits to Kerala. But this dish surprised me pleasantly. Apart from this, I recommend their dishes wrapped in banana leaves. I havent tried the fish dishes yet, as Im not a huge fan of fish in general.Ive gone to this place a couple of times after my first visit and weve ordered food home a few times as well, and Ive never regretted ordering any dish as such - apart from their vegetarian dishes... although my thoughts about their kadala curry, is different! I think it goes well with dosa and wheat porotta.I was quite shocked to see such low ratings on Zomato. And of course this may not be the place with an ambiance for family dinners. But I think its unfair to rate it based on that. Its not healthy food either, but I havent yet come across a restaurant in Dubai that sells healthy food for such low prices. :)Ive never had an issue with service, in fact theyve been friendly whether Ive eaten there or ordered food home. Of course, one could raise the point that there is a language issue because of which communication could be an issue. But personally, I wouldnt go to a place with such costs and expect great service. To summarise, if you are a fan of authentic Kerala food and youre low on budget, this is definitely worth trying.

Gafoorka’s Thattukada was a delight, and deserves all the hype and praise.Though the place may not look pleasing and come off as yet another Kerala restaurant, the dishes served here are delicious, and fresh.Kothu Porotta (Chicken) and Puttu Biriyani (Chicken) were the most talked about dishes from Gafoorka’s.Kothu Porotta is the best I’ve had, and is different in preparation from other restaurants, in a style much true to the Thattukada roots. There is egg, and lots of curry leaves in the dish.Puttu Biriyani was also good, in fact better than most other restaurants. However, the honours for the best Puttu Biriyani goes to Golden Finger - Warqa.I tried their Chicken Fry along with Porotta (which is not crispy, a huge let down personally). The fry was fresh, straight off the pan, hot and delicious - highly recommended.Prices are reasonable, and the three of us dined to full tummies at 49 aed.Service is reminiscent of typical Kerala mid-tier restaurants (or Hotels as we wrongly call in Kerala) - rough, takes their time, minimally interactive, but effective.Gafoorka’s Thattukada was a pleasant experience and I’ll recommend this place for the homely feel (Malayalam songs playing in the backdrop, loud conversations about the happenings back home, and the food). Do not miss to try the Chicken Fry and Chicken Kothu Porotta.
