We had so much fun driving around Jebel Hafeet Desert Park, exploring the glamping bubble tents, the wadi and eventually ending up at the Beehive Tombs. You can get really close to the structures and they have been well restored. There is something so powerful about seeing a tomb that would have been seen with eyes over 5,000 years ago.The tombs sit at the base of Jebel Hafeet, right next to a large naturally formed alcove (worth checking out, the formations are beautiful and its offers some well needed shade!)We drove around the site in a 4x4, you could probably do it in a regular car but it might be a bumpy ride!Lots of toilets dotted throughout the site but no food and drink outlets (that we saw).Enjoy the nature, we did! We also didn’t come across another person other than security guards so make the most of the peace and quiet.

Really cool place to visit. Just put the tombs in Google maps and it will get you over the flood barrier and past the camel farms. At that point just follow the tracks and 10 min later you will be at the tombs.I would recommend a 4x4 for clearance but a car can make it. Just becareful.

Well worth the drive in. Track was firm but rocky so reasonable ground clearance needed. Quite spectacular, alone and in such a barren yet scenic place. Amazing and a privilege to roam amongst man-made structures that old.

For what it is - its awesome. Its a hidden gem and we searched the valley for it and almost missed it. Some nice off road driving, beautiful quiet area with tons of camels walking free. The tombs are something different. If your keen to get away from it all and explore a but this is worth it

Nicely restored archeology, reminded me a lot of European barrows without soil on top. Brings the history of this area alive and enriches an already really lovely place to visit

Lovely place to visit and hike. Careful which car you choose to go in as it might get stuck in the sand on your way there!

An interesting historical tomb site that is partially recovered. It seems other tombs may be hidden under the sand. The structures are simple to look at and the items and bodies inside have been taken for preservation.I wouldnt make a special trip to Al Ain to see the tombs, but if you are in the area of Jebel Hafeet, its worth seeing them and understanding a bit more about the history of the area.

Very difficult to get to but completely worth it as the UAEs first and, as of this writing, only UNESCO world heritage site. Very cool but hard to get to as theres no real road and a whole lot of large rocks to traverse on the way. A road and some signs would make this much better but as I said, its really cool if you can get there.

Very nice experience. So good to see historic sites out in the open available for viewing.Beautiful ancient history site thats off the beaten path. Make sure you have a 4x4 to get out here. Most of the path is hard but there are some very soft sandy spots and a little extra ground clearance for the rocks doesnt hurt either.

It was a beautiful place to hike, but now all fenced off and locked. I agree with protection of an archealogical site and personally tend to collect a lot of waste while hiking. But leave the site at least accessible for hikers. The whole day around Jebel Hafeet was marked by high fences and non-accessible paths. Very sad.

A true historical place. The tour guide mentioned that the tombs are from 3000BC which is about 5000 years ago.

Reconstructed tombs set in a scenic landscape. Worth a visit if you are staying at the Jabel Hafit Desert Park.

Finding the entry point can be a bit difficult if you dont know the place. About 15 minutes of Mild offroading through fairly tame terrain. A sedan should do but a 4x4 will be much better due to the vertical clearance. Nothing much to see at the end but the trip itself makes for a lot of interesting photo opportunities. Would recommend doing once.

Youll need 4WD to get there, unless you want to walk a few Kilometres. If youre driving, follow the tracks and it should take you west past the animal ranch then north west towards a small hill, when you pass the hill you should see the tombs. The fact they were built approx. 5000 years ago is magnificent. Its a must visit place for sure.

A brilliant bit of local history. Completely free to explore the tombs, who knows what youll find inside. Can be a little tricky getting there especially if you dont have a 4x4.

I travel jabel hafeet, nice place to spend a night with family, and friends. but you have to register your self for camp area,. against nominal fee.Family camps are separate from others... if you have more then 2 Wifes you can hire canopy with separate compartments, nice green and lavish grace give opportunity to your children to play and enjoy, you can walk from garden where you stayed to height, even your children can go with you,. it is flat and grassy area, do not scared of free fall or slip or injury.ready made food is always available but its better to arrange camp fire.... sit out side of camp enjoy moon and fresh air until 3 AM, go to bed and wake up early around 5 take bath, but dont take break fast ,. offer namaz then leave the camp...its better to leave earliy or around 12 PM,. up to you..

Jebel Hafeet Beehive Tombs

MA
Review №57

Jebel Hafeet is one of the greatest mountains in the Emirates in terms of altitude. It includes many archaeological areas and stunning natural landscapes and also includes more than 209 species of plants, some of which are vulnerable to extinction and also includes many types of animals such as the desert fox, Arabian tahr and Egyptian eagle

The tombs were built over a period of 500 years between 3200 and 2700 BC, the most prominent of which are located along the eastern slopes, while other tombs were found along the hilltops and prominent heights leading to the north from Jebel Hafeet towards the city of Al Ain, about 20 kilometers away, and all domed tombs contain one room. In a circular or oval shape with a length of two to three meters and made of local rocks complete or cut, the room is surrounded by walls of one, two or three rings, three to four meters above the ground, and the walls of the ring slope inward gradually until they converge At the end to form a dome, and the narrow entrance, facing south, cuts through the wall at ground level. The Jebel Hafeet cemeteries contain the remains of two to five people, unlike the Umm al-Nar cemeteries in the coast of the Arabian Gulf, in which hundreds of people were buried in one burial, in addition to finding a limited number of pottery vessels in each burial in Jebel Hafeet, which was not found. It is in the cemeteries of Umm Al-Nar.
