Oh what it means to learn the dramatic history of this glorious land. Dubai Museum isnt as much a museum as it is a historical conservation.Whether its the conservation of the structure, or its the conservation of the various tools and objects used by the fishermen or the pearl divers of yore, you arent looking at these objects through the glare and smudge of its glass container, but youre interacting with them in an everyday sense, almost as if you are the fisherman or the pearl diver.Once you traverse through the temporal and celestial plains of the older diver-gatherer civilisation, you get to journey into the proverbial womb of this museum as it takes you through the myriad developments that this beautiful place has seen over the last 6 decades, with a dedicated section for each decade. The hackneyed rhetoric of Dubai having no past and having a lack of preservation and conservation of heritage and historical culture must be laid to bed with a visit to this magnificent place.

A fort converted into a museum.Getting to explore Dubai history at such a nominal price is absolutely worth mentioning.Very nice and detailed display of the history and heritage of Dubai as it grew from a small village to be one of the best cities of the world. Even children would find it quite interesting. Also, there are parking facilities available nearby. It shows how the people used to live and that most of them were fisherman. Also walk around Dubai museum to get a feel of the old Dubai and its spice markets!! We loved it.If you visit Dubai, Is a good option to know more about of the history of the country. At the end it has a Souvenirs store where you can buy any kind of stuff from Dubai. Is a good recommendation to visit.Below is a picture that is in the entrance of a boat they used.

Very interesting historical place. We saw how was dubai before which shows us a big contrast between today and yesterday. You must visit while in Dubai. This museum is housed in Dubai Fort & is very cheap to visit. At the beginning you tour through the old fort, looking at exhibits. Originally, we thought, ‘oh well you get what you pay for’. Then as you head further down into the fort, you come across a modern museum, telling the story of the development & history of Dubai. It was very well done & we spent a couple of hours here, immersed in Dubai’s history. It ia very nice to take the children special this generation to learn and see how was the people was living in the past and how much UAE developed and changed since that time. Highly Recommend to visit to enjoy the beauty of Dubai and about to learn its Historical Importance.

Very very interesting location with very old items, It is worth to visit to see how this country evolve from the scratch where there is no basic natural resources available as to other Asian countries - even though they have full of all kind of resources but failed to utilize them to take the country to the next level for 100 of years till now. Lets learn from others and find a way to take the first step to develop our countries for our next generation at least.

Dubai Museum - a great place to learn about the history, culture and evolution of the United Arab Emirates and the great vision of its Founding Fathers which have made the country what it is today. The transition through the 1930s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s through the 90s has been vividly captured here. The atmosphere of life in the olden days is shown beautifully with the help of models. It is almost as if they were alive. It is all the more impressive to know that this is a project of Dubai Municipality.I felt enriched after visiting this museum and could learn about the culture and history of UAE.

Like most noticeable features of Dubai, every enactment be it #human living, #animals and #plants of the early era etc were all communicated in an orderly fashion. This is one #tourist spot that #kids and lovers of #history would love. The building is pretty inconspicuous from the outside except for the bold entry name tag which is placed a bit inside and of course a really life size ancient big #boat/#ship that marks the beginning of the history of Dubai.

This museum is located in one of the oldest buildings in Dubai - the Al Fahidi fort, which is a nice-looking structure. The museum itself is not very big and is divided into 2 parts - the exterior part is in the open and displays things like old Abra boats, old huts & kitchens, cannons etc, while the interior part (air conditioned) recreates various professions and eras of Dubais history including ship-building, pearl diving, trading, discovery of oil, modernization of Dubai, etc. Overall, its a nice way to spend an hour or so looking at and appreciating Dubai and UAEs history.

This must be one of the best bargains in Dubai - its cheap to get in to the museum, which is set inside the old Al Fahidi fort built more than 200 years ago. The museum explains about Dubais growth from a tiny fishing village to an international commerce hub and illustrates it with dioramas. It doesnt take too long to visit but gives a good insight into how Dubai came to be in the form we know today. You might need a little help from Google Maps to actually find the museum - its not immediately obvious!

Visitors will get acquainted with the different environments of urban and rural lives in Dubai, whether they are marine, coastal, desert, mountain or agricultural life. Rare authentic monuments, original samples, drawings and diagrams, audio and video media are scattered all over the wings of the museum. The museum consists of the monuments wing, which displays antique monuments such as pottery, weapons, tombs, buildings and urban communities. Ancient artifacts on display includes the traditional arabian boat, musical instrument, hand tools, old well, amongst others. The building block comprises of mud bricks shipped in to Dubai from Morocco to fortify the walls to ensure the traditional Arabian style is represented on the building facade. Some light weight internal walls were also made out of knitted reeds and palm fronds. Its a must visit to perfectly grasp the history of the Emirates from the inception till date. The Museum is a splendid showcase that exposes, in the best way, the cultural origins of Arabia and the images of daily life of the past. The Dubai Museum is located in the Al Fahidi Fortress, which is the oldest still existing building in the city. The fortress was built in 1787 and was, over time, a royal palace, a defense fortress, an arsenal and a prison. Then the palace was restored by Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and, in 1971, the year of establishment of the United Arab Emirates, it became a museum. When you enter the Fortress, it is better to forget that you are a tourist and be drawn to the evidence of the ancient life of the locals, walking carefully through the rooms. The visitor finds himself among old houses, shops, pearl fishermen, merchants, date farmers and many other scenarios that reconstruct the past very well. The rooms also exhibit precious archaeological finds, the oldest of which date back to 3000 BC, and which are evidence of the presence of men in the area since ancient times. If the visitor manages to immerse himself in this atmosphere, he will be able to understand much of the culture and history of this country, reliving the experience of those who lived by bravely confronting each day with the desert and the sea.
