This places is usually full and finding seats is kind of tough. Ambience is not so great but once you are past that the food is really great. We tried their meal and loved all the things in it. They serve a warm drink with the food on the table and it is meant to aid digestion. The taste of that was great. Looking forward to try other dishes soon.

One among the few of the best and fine Kerala restaurants in Dubai.Perfectly located near Lulu Al quasis. Bit hard to find parking on weekends at peak times.Food is amazing. Especially their Malabar Biriyani and Lunch Meal. One of a place to experience good quality brown rice with set of curries.Mackeral tawa is a must try.Very spacious inside and expect enough privacy.Very courteous and trained staffs.

Salkara in Qusais needs no introduction and this wasn’t my first visit either. But this time, I tried some dishes from their specially curated menu for the month of July by Chef Roy Pothen & his team and I loved the experience so much that I had to put it in writing. The special menu for July has only a handful of dishes but they’re interesting and well thought out and prepared in traditional Kerala fashion. This is available for lunch and dinner in addition to the other items from the regular menu.We started off with Inji Kurumulaku Kozhi Soup which literally translates to ginger pepper chicken soup. Soft shredded pieces of chicken swimming around in a broth flavoured with black pepper, ginger and caramelized onions was so delightful that I wiped the bowl clean. It wasn’t that spicy but do expect your blocked nose and ears to open up😊 Once done with the soup, we needed to cool down, so we ordered a Tomato Chicken Salad, a simple, cold yet flavourful salad. After this we thought of moving onto the mains but the Erivu Malli Chemmeen among the starters caught my fancy. And I wasn’t disappointed. The combination of prawns with the green chilies, onion, and coriander mix was a match made in heaven. The prawns were cooked to perfection and served in the shell but split in half, which made it easy to devour. This dish is highly recommended!! Do not miss ordering it!!For mains, we ordered a mutton, a fish and a chicken dish. First Class Railway Mutton Chops with its tender mutton pieces and flavourful gravy, turned out to be my kiddo and hubby’s favourite while mine was the Kunji Kozhi Pacha Vattichathu. We had asked for a half portion of this, and the marinade consists of a lip-smacking combination of green chilies and coconut milk and curry leaves. It’s not overly spicy as you might think. It was a good combination with appam.Kallai Fish Masala is traditional-style fish curry with coconut milk and was served in a chatti/claypot. Goes well with appam and Kerala porotta. As full as we were, I can never say no to desserts. And we did try quite a few😊 My favourite is everyone’s favourite – the jiggly wiggly Elaneer (Tender Coconut) Pudding. If you haven’t tried this, then you’re missing out!! Those who love payasam, should try Nei Payasam with ice-cream and those who would like to try something different, should try the Beetroot Halwa with Ice-cream.Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. The July menu is worth trying and a huge shoutout to the restaurant manager, Mr. Pradeep, and to his team for the wonderful service and hospitality.

Good Kerala style food. We had regular meals for lunch which included all the common dishes like sambar, thoran, chammandi, fish curry etc. We ordered additional chicken fry and natholi (small type of fish) fry. The chicken fry was unique which was fried along with grated coconut, which alone itself is delicious. The natholi fry was also good. The place was too crowded during lunch time and the hand washing area also had queue, which is something to be resolved.

Its my first time to dine in Salkara. If you like authentic south indian dishes then this resto will definitely be in your bucket list. Situated and easily accessible in Amman Street, Al Nahda 1,near Stadium Metro Station - Dubai, UAE which Lulu Hypermarket is located. Actually got addicted with kerala dishes especially MASALA which my friend introduced me. First we are served with fresh veggies and a hot water with herbs on it(my bf just told me the exact words when i asked what is the name of the drinks they first serve) then we ordered paratha, puttu, appam, pappadam and of course my all time fave chicken mulakittu arachathu. Salkara is perfect the menu and deco is catchy for me and cute coz i really love comics and animations. Its a family friendly restaurant that serves the finest south indian food at a very reasonable price and a must try.
