My query was simple, 3 housemaids to be available for 4 hours of deep cleaning of a completely empty villa. The “happy maids” manager confirmed the availability of the 3 women at 9am, with their own equipment and detergent. Everything seemed to go well.However one day before the confirmed date, I call back the manager to make sure everything was well organized and he had the location of the villa saved. The manager told me that the material was not going to be available and that instead of 4 hour in the morning the maids could come in the afternoon – I was surprised by the lack of organization and unprofessionalism. The manager then folded and accepted to send the 3 maids in the morning as originally confirmed, however no material would be provided.I had to rush to the supermarket and buy detergent and materials for three housemaids. I bid goodbye to the stress free move in I hoped for.The maids came on time, without any material.Before starting working, one of the maid adopted a very condescending attitude “warning” me that they would not clean the windows of the second floor, they would not clean my chandeliers and they will not clean the ceilings of the toilets (with accumulated dirt from maintenance work). That really set the tone of their welcome in my home. The audacity of the maid’s attitude was also surprising, requesting me to go buy one more mop sticks (I had 5 mops and 2 mop sticks). I refused.The maids then got busy with what I call routine housework, bathrooms, floors, paying no attention to details and no respect for quality work. Dirt and dust were left all throughout the corners of the rooms, all throughout the tiled borders of every wall in the house. I had asked the maids to clean the drawers of the kitchen only to discover dirty water underneath the drawers – cleaning to be redone all over again.The manager still billed us for “deep cleaning” although no material was provided and “deep cleaning” did not occur.When we called back the manager to understand his definition of “deep cleaning” he replied “thorough cleaning. We even clean corners”. The irony.I wouldn’t ever hire or recommend “happy maids”

Had an appalling experience with this company. They quoted me Dh40 per hour if they used my materials and Dh50 per hour if they used theirs. I booked 6hrs at the higher rate as I wanted separate sponges used for kitchen/ bathroom etc. I then discovered an expensive dusting mitt which had been new and in packaging in my cupboard was hanging dripping over the toilet. I also saw one of the cleaners climb on top of a kitchen work surface in her bare feet. I asked her not to as that is where I prepare food. She dampened my own kitchen sponge (used to clean food not feet markings) and wiped it down with water. My washing up bowl was also put in a different place so I suspect it was used for cleaning.When I pointed these things out to the owner and asked for a refund of the cleaning mitt and the extra Dh10 per hour I had spent for them to use their cleaning materials when they clearly hadnt, he was at first petulant and said it was my fault for not watching them the whole time! When I pointed out I expect to get what I pay for and they had not kept their end of the deal, he then agreed to pay a refund. But the next day - when he was supposed to bring the money - he became abusive on the phone, was yelling and claimed he had never promised to refund any of the money and claimed it was the first time I had complained about cleaning materials (my text messages prove otherwise). Then he became downright nasty and said he would post abuse on my Facebook page with pictures of me as the person who claimed back money for a mitt. Horrible little man, horrible experience. This was never about a mitt but about getting proper service and what I had paid for. Who expects to book a company and be abused when they are the ones to get it wrong? That has to be the very definition of appalling customer service. I am going back to Dial-a-Maid, who did a lovely job when I booked them, were polite, efficient and friendly and sadly, unavailable when I wanted them this time. Do not, under any circumstances, book the dreadful very UN-Happy Maids.
