Now at the caliber of this resort, one would expect a certain level of service throughout. From the butler staff to the culinary staff. My wife had emailed the resort to advise them that I am Vegan and they replied stating they would advise the chef and have him make up a small menu for me. What wed expect and what has happened at past resorts weve been to over the months. That was not the case! Arriving at 1pm on Saturday, early, we did the needful at the front desk and were transported by boat to the restaurant (tre cool). Greeted very hospitably by all staff right off the boat(Recreation Mgr perhaps) all the way to our table. Rohit and colleagues waited on us over lunch and he was amazing! Made us feel so welcomed and warm. Spoke about the different food and drink options and told us about the cocktails you specialized in. At this point we informed him that Im vegan and we had already notified ahead. There was no vegan menu and the daily options were very limited. I wasnt in the mood for salads or tofu so I asked for a margherita pizza without cheese; essentially a red sauce pizza. Not that challenging if you ask me yet the food took well over an hour. Alissa ordered a salad and me a plain pizza. This is unacceptable especially from The Ritz. When I questioned the staff, they said the kitchen had to make a pizza from scratch as they were all pre-made with cheese. This surprised me, so I asked if and why I was being served frozen pizza, there was no reply.Jeson, the F&B manager, came around and apologized for the delay which was appreciated but not excused. Chef came out and introduced himself and said that he could come up with some dishes to meet my dietary requirements but he wasnt able to suggest anything right then besides what was already had on the menu. Needless to say, we didnt dine at the restaurant for dinner that evening. We ordered a simple cold mezze the following day for lunch in our room, figure that would be almost impossible to mess up or delay. We went for sundowners which was followed by dinner. Alissa ordered the prawns and I asked if they could put together a rice and dal dish for me. They said it was possible. The prawns were good, so I was told, and my dish satisfied my hunger. Rice, dal, pickled mango and poppadom in nice copper presentation bowls on a small platter. I finished all the dishes with a lovely glass of Rioja. (recommended by Arun, I believe)What would you normally charge for dal since its not on the menu? We were charged for butter chicken!!! I found that interesting and bold at the same time but I didnt question the staff as it was a very nice evening with my wife for her birthday. We then enjoyed a very pleasant walk back to our room for the night.I do think there are a few things that need to be looked at within your team to maintain exceptional service The Ritz provides especially since we stayed at the Wadi down the way from you. We left very relaxed and happy with our stay but not at the service especially from the kitchen. I was also advised that you had a guest recently who was Vegan but ate fish, so it was a lot easier to accommodate them. Theyre clearly not vegan if they eat fish now are they?! Theyre Pescatarian. The fact that I was informed of this on more than one occasion was not relevant to me. Does the staff actually know the meaning of being plant based?I asked Alissa if she would return and her honest and direct response was no. I said I would but Id bring my own food or go get outside food daily.
Love the beach and pool view from the restaurant
Great location with sea view. Lunch menu nice, dinner overpriced.
We really loved the place and the vibe here, Islam made for us some really exotic Shisha flavours, 10 on 10 for the hospitality, if you’re here and you want shisha, reach out to Islam.
Just beautiful atmosphere, great place to chill and enjoy the scenery
20 minutes waiting to be served. Then 2 hours waiting for the brunch to be prepared
