The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Salem Al-Qasimi Mosque is as a historic place located in the old town called old RAK. The Sheikh was the former ruler of the region which was that time more big. The building materials used to build the mosque are the same as those of the palace where the ruling family used to live. This former residence is now the National Museum of Ras al Khaimah. If you walk by, youll see that the two buildings are made of the same materials.

Archaeological excavation and restoration work finally came to an end on the Mohammad Bin Salem Mosque.Excavations revealed the presence of an earlier mosque, dating back to the second half of the 18th century (date as indicated by preliminary analysis of the finds) Historical records indicate a mosque was at this place since the 16th century, but earlier version/s could not be found owing to the confined test trenches. With respect to the later 18th century mosque, excavations revealed that it was destroyed during the British occupation in 1819/20 and that a new mosque was built

The Sheikh Muhammad Bin Salem Al Qasimi Mosque, which is called the Great Mosque, is one of the oldest and largest mosques in the city of Ras Al Khaimah. This mosque was built by Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Awal in the old Ras Al Khaimah region, and it overlooks a high hill on the coast of the Arabian Gulf, and is located to North of Fereej Al Ali, and its construction dates back to 1820 AD, according to reports by the Ras Al Khaimah National Museum.(Ras Al-Khaimah) - Citizen Ahmed Mohammed bin Fadl Al-Nuaimi (81 years) said that since he became aware of the world more than 78 years ago, he is performing the company of his father “may God have mercy on him” five prayers in the mosque with Friday prayers, where this chapel was the mosque Al-Kabeer in the city of Ras Al-Khaimah at the time, and he was gathering the elders of Al-Qawasim with all the people of the city, noting that those who neglected performing the prayer, especially Friday prayers of all ages except for the sick and the elderly and those who had legitimate excuses, was hit with bamboo sticks in front of everyone in the mosque square, where Everyone was trying to pray.Ibn Fadl explained that the mosque is the only mosque in the old city, and the mosque is built on an area of 1600 square meters, and includes a main prayer hall occupying two-thirds of the mosque, and this room with the sidewalk of the mosque accommodates about 1000 worshipers, while it was located in its southeastern part a small room, It is reserved for women, and the mosque still performs the five daily prayers, and it is under the supervision of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments.Social roleIbn Fadl pointed out that the ruler was meeting with his congregation to study their conditions after completing the prayer, and consulting with them on all matters relating to the homeland and citizens.Ibn Fadl added that the mosque is approximately 200 years old, and during this period of time it underwent restoration operations, most of which were carried out by citizens in the past until the establishment of the federation, and then it was implemented by the local emirate departments, the last of which was 5 years ago, and carried out under the supervision of the Department of Antiquities and Museums in Ras The tent, where the various works of restoration brought together modernity and originality through the use of plaster and stone with its ceiling with palm fronds, which continued in its structural form until the present time, where air conditioners were introduced to operate with electric power while maintaining the presence of the lighthouse, which are lighting lanterns that were It was ignited at night with gas in the past.Documenting the history of the mosqueIn a related context, Dr. Hamad bin Saray, a professor of ancient history in the Department of History and Archeology at the University of the Emirates, said in his book issued about the mosque, which is the first documentary study of the medieval pieces entitled The Great Mosque in Ras Al Khaimah History, novel and impact, that the government of Ras Al Khaimah restored In the early nineties of the last century the mosque, and added 28 arched windows on its sides, the abolition of the womens chapel room, and the addition of a corridor covered to the front of the mosque, with its outer walls covered with mountain stones as an alternative to marble, which was considered the basic material in building the mosque. The current form of the mosque includes 3 large doors that open towards the eastern side, and includes 60 columns topped by a roof covered with palm fronds. He pointed out that during the restoration three layers of mud and milk were discovered under the walls and columns, in addition to finding an old Omani coin estimated to be more than 150 years old, the mosque was restored by the sheikhs, and every person from the city was paying the value of 3 rupees, and the mosque He was demolished more than once, and the newspaper was placed on the ceiling when it was restored. There has been a pebble carved in the mosque about 80 years ago. The people used to go to Tunb by ship and prepare gravel for building the mosque. The mosque in the bookHe explained that he brings together the narrators that the mosque is old, and they do not remember it, because they were born while he was present and grew up and he is. They also agree that it was the only mosque in the town and that it was built in the Sheikh Sheikh neighborhood of Sheikh, where Sheikh Muhammad bin Salem, and his father before him Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr bin Rashid Al Qasimi, lived, and the mosque consists of large columns, and between the pillar and column Jandal, Each gondola is wrapped with a rope called (my use), and the gondola is still present, and the columns of plaster are also present. Its wall is the same, and its area is the same since it was built. The stones of the mosque were brought from the Greater Tunb Island, and the gravel of the island is white and light. There were gutters at first, which were made of pottery, and now of wood. There was a room near the mosque for the five obligatory prayers, and Friday prayers in the Great Mosque, and there was a plaster dome in the mosque at the entrance on the right, and the muezzin ascended on it to rise a little. There was never a lighthouse in this mosque. The gondolas were brought from Tanzania (from Khosh Shanbouni), and the gondolas were cut green, neither big nor small, and the way they were cut is a blow from the right and a strike from the left.In the place and light of the worshipers, there was a long “graduate” (i.e. salty) next to the door, and later the Hammamet Mosque was established on the northern side. There were rooms
