I love love love Al Fahidi district. Really appreciate Dubai authorities to create such an amazing experience. Architecture and allure of the place is magical. You might find souk a bit expensive but all things in one place is a great idea. Few years ago this place was thriving and I remember live traditional majlis (Cafe and sitting areas) where you actually experience the social life of traditional Dubai.

A nice and calm place to visit in Dubai. The entrance is free of charge but there can be some activities and events inside the premise which may be required buying tickets.Visitors can have a good idea about histoty of Dubai and its culture. The best time visit this place is after 3 o clock. Usually it take around only one to two hours to visit all the historic items.There are many restaurants and souvenir shops inside and next to the premise but the prices of goods are little bit expensive.

Its a very quiet place especially by tge evening time. If humidity isnt a problem to you... Its a very good place to hangout. Although you might find some shops open which sell products, there are still places which are completely quiet.

Very educative. Was so elated to learn about the old Dubai and New Dubai. Its really good this place exists. It keeps the newer generations informed about what the country used to be before their existence and also know how much has changed over time

Superb area to visit at least once in your Dubai life to feel and experience the classic Dubai. Boat ride, food one of best place for family outing too.Very very suitable for photo shoot and videography with a classic background. Highly recommended.

Fortunately, we went with a tour guide because we were getting hassled at the guards gate initially. I don’t know what that was about. Our tour guide - Dubai Tour in BMW, found via AirBnB Experiences, was phenomenal at providing a snapshot of Dubai in 6 hours.What a cultural gem! It feels like you’ve stepped back in time. From the alleys, script, building structures, unique architecture, and more. And the information and little museums were visually intricate and engaging as it explains so much history of the Emiratis. I truly enjoyed the shade but also the exploration. This should definitely be on your list to visit when in Dubai if you are interested in history.There are some beautiful hotels in the area that are built with the architectural guidance of the historic area, however there aren’t many restaurants because Al Seef opened right at the beginning of the pandemic. No worries. There are metro lines and transportation modes that can get you to really good dining places. Across the canal, try Dampa. Really delicious seafood. Hoping as we move out of the pandemic, more restaurants will inhabit this area so it can be a lovely shopping district.I hope you found this review helpful. If so, please give me a thumbs up. Loved this place. Such a wonderful day we had exploring the streets, the art and culture of the local community. Tried a kahwa which was so nice.

A delightful area to visit. Full of charm and quiet. Unfortunately most studios, shops and even the Dubai Museum were closed. However the XVA Arts Hotel and cafe was open. A splendid old style building with a courtyard cafe serving vegetarian cuisine. Neither of us is vegetarian but found our meal delicious and more than sufficient to satisfy us. We want to return to try other dishes which are certainly not expensive. The shops that were open were interesting to browse.

Historical buildings of Emirati people built by using clay and stone from the sea. There are different types of museums which helps to know about their history.

The place good for a nice cultural walk, visit the museum, art galleries and trying different restaurants and cafes. The place is is dead during the summer, all the coffee shops and restaurants won’t open until 4pm. Best time to enjoy this place is during the winter time from late September to March. Souvenir shopping is expensive compare to other places.

I loved this quiet little corner of Dubai, such contrast to the bustle of downtown.

Nice place to experience the old life style. Its located inside the busy city, but very silent and have its own nice ambience. Can walk around and feel the calmness and feel peace of mind. The place was not that crowded when we visited and was good for a peaceful walk. Basement parking is available and can be accessed from the nearby roundabout. Atm and all major shops available inside they are also built in old style which is also nice to see. Whoever conceived and accomplished this idea deserves to be appreciated. Except for a security guy who spoiled the cool ambience unnecessarily at one time maybe for the surveillance camera to see, everything else was nice. A good experience overall.

When I was roaming the area(last year)a local man tried to lure me into a building(where they display local living situation) he kept beckoning me to go further inside the house! I took a picture near the entrance and quickly left. He stalled me and tried to take a selfie and put his arms on my shoulder. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t touching a breach in culture in Dubai? There was no one else around and I felt VERY uncomfortable.

Wonderful small museum with variety of antic pieces displayed. I couldnt enter since it was early hours of the day. Still display outside shop was sufficient to give an idea of their collection inside the shop. One thing I must add that on Al Seef seaside there is no drinking water foundation at all. First sign of humanity and welcoming the guest is to offer drinking water which was totally absent. Same is the case at Masraf beach.

Almost intrinsic architecture along with an abundance of art and museums to explore just perfect for travelers.Plenty of history too, About 5 months ago I had visited the place and came back learning ASL(sign language) crazy experience. Should definitely visit.

For history and art lovers, this would be a mini heaven. A lot of artifacts have been preserved and I was totally amazed. It is such a quiet and beautiful place, most of all educating . This should be on your to do list if you are visiting Dubai. You would be glad you did.

Nice place to return to old history

A blast from the past! A small part of what was once the Dubai. Well maintained and clean historical landmark of the city. Next to the beautiful Dubai Creek, walk along the pier and capture the essence of the historical culture of Dubai. This is a great place to spend the day walking and exploring, and best of all, it is cost free. The buildings have small vendors and cafes for you to rest visit and rest in!

The place is nice to walk, but there was no much to see.

My favorite place to visit to observe the real historical sight, I prefer to visit in the evening till midnight. I love to seat and relax, reading books or listening.

The narrow streets of Al Fahidi Historical District will give you major nostalgia. The old pattern houses, beautiful art galleries and ofcourse street calligraphies- you will love the overall look and feel. And after a stroll, dont forget to visit Arabian Tea House.

Best Historical place in Dubai, a must visit for

The old neighborhood of Dubai. The style of buildings are the same, offering a feeling of traveling back in time channel. There are some interesting art stores and carpet stalls. The other part next to Dubai river has more restaurants and stores. It is good if you have more time to kill, but not a must for first time visitors.

It’s nice to see something that tells you more about the history of Dubai.Thanks the local guide for showing around and giving information about their culture. He is so friendly.

This place takes you to an old magical world. Just walking by the narrow lanes, shops on two sides of the street..gives you an amazing feeling. You can take an abra ride from here and visit different soul around the place.

The Al Fahidi Quarter (previously known, and sometimes still referred to as the Bastakia neighborhood) was built in the late 19th century to be the home of wealthy Persian merchants who dealt mainly in pearls and textiles and were lured to Dubai because of the tax-free trading and access to Dubai Creek.Al Fahidi occupies the eastern portion of Bur Dubai along the creek, and the coral and limestone buildings here, many with walls topped with wind-towers, have been excellently preserved.Wind-towers provided the homes here with an early form of air conditioning - the wind trapped in the towers was funneled down into the houses. Persian merchants likely transplanted this architectural element (common in Iranian coastal houses) from their home country to the Gulf.Lined with distinct Arabian architecture, the narrow lanes are highly evocative of a bygone, and much slower, age in Dubais history.Inside the district, youll find the Majlis Gallery, with its collection of traditional Arab ceramics and furniture (housed in a wind-tower) and the Al Serkal Cultural Foundation, with a shop, café, and rotating art exhibitions (located in one of the historic buildings).A very interesting and educative place to be and you will never regret the experience.

Lovely place to hang out with many musuems, art galleries, shops and eateries around here. Love the way they put shades in between the buildings which provide cover from the strong sun while providing lighting to the area.

This is one of my favorite places in Dubai. This place reminds me the cultural heritage we all inherit . We all must take care of it. The commercial is overwhelming reminds me the beautiful blend of covention and modernity.

Lovely and I love how they preserve the structures and coolest place to explore, very traditional amazing place, they have souk or market from the old decades, restaurants, gallery, old coins. You can cross the other souk using Abra the traditional boat that made of wood only for 2 dirhams. Weve met Mr. Abdulla Alnzari the great man very kind he is the tour guide in that whole area ( Al Bastakiya- The Historical neighbourhood in Al Fahidi ) we got an excellent hospitality. I LOVE DUBAI my second home

Its pleasant enough but really very little that is original.Lots of modern construction in an historical theme but you can get a feel for the site and size of old Dubai inside its small wall beside the CreekLots of retail buildings which are just boarded up presumably because of the high rental policy pricing them out

A place which truly reveals Dubais rich traditional culture and heritage. All the forts, palaces and buildings are well preserved and mostly occupied by souvenir shops. A must visit place for tourists to see what Dubai had been earlier and a nice shopping place for some unique souvenirs from Dubai.

A visit here is highly recommended to have an idea of what Dubai would have looked like in the past before the boom years. It is an excellent break from the shopping mall or beaches. However, I must say the quaint district does look a bit fake, but it is a great place to start a walk through Bur Dubai and then Deira.

This place is spectacular! I dont know why it is not better known, there were barely tourists. As a European tourist I appreciate culture and history and this was the only place weve visited that had some historical background (even though it was built nowadays).

Essence of old dubai. You can get to learn a lot about the place while talking to the traders who are here in their 3rd generation living in harmony.

Amazing place that has recently been developed and opened in Dubai. Like many other places, this is actually a shopping destination in disguise. But the way the exteriors have been done give it a really medivial look and feel and it actually feels like you are walking in a couple of centuries old village. As this place is a recent addition, not many shops have actually been occupied thereby giving the place an even more authentic note. There are plenty of good restaurants facing the creek if you keep walking into the narrow gully that have been constructed alongside the creek.

The biggest upside of it is probably that it exists. Gives you a glimpse into the past and a nice image of how old Dubai could have looked like but it’s kinda empty and dull. Somewhat unused potential.
