Decent Mexican food. Their guacamole is the best, very fresh and good tasting...nachos r also different and home made... crispy chicken was not so good.. overall good place.. must try once

I didn’t like Mexican cuisine, before I have visited this restaurant. The food was really delicious and portions are big. Staff was very kind, friendly and helpful.

I have been craving for Mexican food for quiet some time and yesterday managed to satisfy that craving by dining in at El Chicos at JBR walk.I was accompanied by my family and they enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, there was only person managing the restaurant so it was like a one man show. He still managed to cater to all the customers but the orders were delayed.They have a nice seating area outside and its recommended to grab the place during winters.So like every Mexican restaurant, they serve you complimentary Nachos accompanied with Salsa sauce. However, the salsa did not taste authentic but the Nachos were crisp and soft.Our Main course came in as follows:Vegetarian Quesadillas – It was the star of the evening. BEST Quesadillas I have ever tried . This place serves roasted Quesadillas with the right amount of cheese filling and grilled veggies.Vegetarian Burritos – Stuffed with grilled veggies, the tortilla was nicely grilled. However, the Guacamole was not upto the mark since it was too tangy coz of extra lime juice in it.Vegetarian Tacos- It had a generous filling of Baked Beans, Veggies and cheese.Vegetarian Fajita- Tortillas were nice and soft. We were served 10 tortillas along with guacamole dip, sour cream, Shredded cheese , Grilled veggies and raw veggies for the filling.All the dishes come with sides and you have an option to choose between Spanish rice, boiled veggies, mashed potato, beans and French fries. Unfortunately this place had limited options for sides where we could opt only for Spanish rice and Fries. The rice was very good in taste but the beans were bland.Overall I liked the food but I would recommend them to hire more staff instead of being dependent on one person to manage the busy place especially during the weekends.

The food is what you can expect from a Tex Mex. The place is very old, need maintenance.But the service of the staff was great and I enjoy the experience, specially the service of Rachel, a Philippine manager.

This restaurant was very great. The fajita was very delicous. The waiter was very kind. We will come back next time.

I may have caught them on a bad night, but the enchiladas were bad…VERY bad. The first three items on the menu my fiancé tried to order were “not available”. It was also overpriced. Paid 100 AED (about $27 USD) for a Coke, an iced tea and cheese enchiladas.

WORST FOOD / POOR SERVICEWalked from JBR Ritz Carlton for a quick dinner and found Mexican...well what we thought was Mexican. The service started ok but went down hill fast. Food was actually TASTELESS...how can that happen? Yes...tasteless! We both ordered enchiladas (vegetarian and beef) both tasted like air, rice was spoiled and guac was from a bag. HORRIBLE...we took a few bites, asked for the check/paid and left. The waitress noticed the full plates and didnt even ask how things went.

There is one staff there el Chico JBR is so rude and do not know even what is customer service. I went with my family for dinner and left without ordering. So disappointed! Even though we love Mexican food.

COCKROACH IN FOODIt is the most painful review ever for me. And honestly I did not want to give. But my wife and mother convince me to help other with this review.I ordered asada and enchilada, while my wife ordered enchiladas. Rice were bad, hard and expired. Beans of enchiladas seemed expired too. But worst part was in the end. When my wife found a dead cockroach in her enchiladas(outlined part in picture) . Imagine the horror and torment she went through. She started crying, was shaking and ran to restroom to vomit.I understand that Dubai municipality rules are strict. And a complain would have made big problem, but I restrained thinking that no one will do it on purposeLater my wife and mother convinced me that its not about doing it on purpose or not, its their job to keep it clean and tidy, coz cockroach in food itself is a nightmare, but it could have been something worse and poisonous too.

The service was very slow and the food was below average. The restaurant used to be way better.

Great food. Chilled vibe. Could be neater though.

Ambiance of the place could be a bit better. When we went they had African jams instead of Latin American music not sure why. The food is tasty but selection not the greatest. Disappointed they had 1 of the 3 desserts available and small selection of cocktail drinks available. No margarita or Sangria the day we went. My tacos were perfect but the side rice just a bit too dry.

We came at 13.30 and the waitress roughly told us that they are still closed.

Food took literally 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach our table after ordering, the place is severely under staffed 2 waiters only serving the entire floor, and I have a feeling there is only 1 chef in the kitchen....Food quality below average, not fresh, not cooked properly, stiff burger like rubber, priced way too high for this quality....dirty dusty tables, old worn out chairs same exact plastic out dated chairs from 5 years ago, un-cared for and un-loved place and it shows, this restaurant sadly really lost its glamour!!

Best Margaritas. The complementary chips and salsa are better than the appetisers at most places . The fried avacado is a must try.

The food was really good and the whole experience felt extremely authentic. Its the first time we tried it and honestly we cant wait to come back - the Top Shelf Fajita Quasadillas were out of this world, would definitely recommend.The waitress was also so sweet and helpful.You also get 3 hours free parking so thats always a plus in JBR

The service was nice, the gentleman from Kenya seated us and assisted us with the menu. Just had the guacamole and drinks, the guacamole was just okay nothing special but the chocolate milkshake was a disappointment. It looked nothing like the picture and was visually displeasing.

Not even close to real Mexican food. The meat in the tacos was mushed up and had the consistency and taste of spicey canned dog food. Barf! Dont order the tacos!The staff, however was great and very friendly.

Me and my wife recently ate at this restaurant by Cobone. The restaurant staff were pleasant and hospitable meeting us and taking our orders. Overall experience and service was awesome. Kudos to El Chico in general. Would definitely return to this place.

Popped in this evening to get a takeaway to enjoy on the beach at sunset. Service was very prompt and portions are huge! I ordered the chicken sizzling salad which was a generous portion and they also provided a massive bag of fresh chips and salsa. Great food and excellent value for money. Would recommend.

The food was good. Big portions. I FOUND A HAIR IN MY FOOD. I’m literally only giving it two stars for the food. They only changed the plate it was on and they left the food and just took the hair out!!!!!

Service was good but the food was horrendous

While weve normally been impressed with El Chico, the last couple of times at this location have not been quite up to the same standard that we had been used to. The food was a little worse tasting and drier than previous visits. The staff, while friendly, just didnt provide the same level of service wed come to expect. We will eat there again in the future, but hope they will work to offer a higher level of service and food quality.

They have a real problem with service quality in this restaurant.Slow and not professional.The idea of the kitchen being on the 2nd floor while the seating area downstairs makes the service even worser.. suddenly all waiters/waitress can disappear because they are all upstairs at the kitchen.

We where very excited to find a nice Mexican restaurant. Menu looked delicious. When ordering our drinks they didnt had cola. We ordered different starters but had to wait for ages before they served our drinks beside the water and the food. When the food was served it was cold! The cheese nachos where prepared with cheese sauce out of a can. They do not use real cheddar! Also not on the chilli fries. Had to send it back and had to wait for ages again!!! We asked for extra chicken strips which where nice on their platter but what they served didnt look like the plate we just had before... there where just 2 staff members, one waitress and the manager running around. This place is not one to return to!!! Very disappointing. Have to mention that they gave us a big discount! Staff tried there best but.....

Very tasty Tex-Mex cuisine. Server was friendly and attentive. Hit the spot since we were craving good Mexican food. We ordered enchiladas, fajitas and nachos and were happy with each selection.

Worst experience!!! .. the sercive was very slow had to wait for more than 40 min. They were serving food to customers that came after us and when we reminded them of the food.. completely disregarded us. In the end we just left and ate at another restaurant.Such a shame, it used to be much better.

Shockingly terrible customer request management is all Im going recall through my experience tonight.We were a table of 5, and went in for ribs (a friend who was present boasted that she had the best ribs there back in Feb 2019). When we placed our order, we were informed that the ribs were discontinued for a while. However the menu was not updated. We had our minds on ribs and hence decided to try out another restaurant nearby.One issue, we parked at the beach and needed our ticket validated. I asked a staff (April/Avril by name) if we could have our tickets validate and explained the situation, 30 seconds into the conversation she replied quite rudely and hastily. So much so that when I tried to ask her to reconfirm the operation managers phone number, she just walked away from our table.The operation manager I spoke with via phone was absolutely supportive and actually listened to my enquiry. If anything, this was the only positive interaction Ive had there. If he said validating the ticket was not possible, I wouldnt mind at all as he had a positive tone unlike the manager on floor that actually upset us all. He then asked for me to pass the phone to the manager in the restaurant. I passed the phone and went to my table in order to give her some privacy while she spoke to him.Once she finished the call she didnt even bother to return my phone. And after a few mins I couldnt see her, didnt know where my phone was, I had to ask another staff to hunt for my phone. She actually just abandoned it at some table near the door like she didnt care.At the end they gave me one parking passBut after such an experience, I or my friends present there would never go back.Its one thing to stand for set policies, but its another whole different issue to take things personal and not maintain professionalism.
