I was terribly missing Kerala as every year I take a trip down to my home during this time. Thanks to Corona it is not happening tjis year That is why I have decided to visit a Kerala restaurant. And I have only tried Chatti Choru which was superb. The beef chatti choru had cheera thoran, beef fry, beef curry, chilly chutney and ginger curd. I absolutely loved it and I am drooling right now while writing the review
Very good and authentic ambiance. well crowded. The presentation of the food is very unique and excellent. It gives a different and great feel when we have the food served on a mud pot. Service is excellent. All said, we were team of 5, ordered different menu with same rice base and all of us had a bulgy stomach and did not feel comfortable for several hrs, since we had our lunch. we humble suggest the management to looking into what went wrong and get it corrected.
It views like a classical & Nostalgic phenomena flows all over its areas..specially the wall paintings & the Chimneys which hangs inside the room resembles the nostalgic expression of cooking in a marriage function..Music which is played in the hotel felt little bit irritation as it was too loud,in this case staffs should be aware for their customer needs..Table cover which they provided was wonderful.. We sit in first floor & ordered Chicken biriyani.. It took too much time to enter into our table..food ;it was little bit spicy as well. Quantity that was sufficient for one..Neatness of the hotel is quite good..But the wooden stairs towards first floor is too narrow.. Everyone should take more precaution while you came back to ground floor..Especially family & more fatty people not recommended to go upstairs.Payasam dish isn’t good..It was felt like a biscuit water..
Had been to this place last week... Tried chatti choru and Kadukka nirachathu... for the non malayalis to understand Chatti Choru is basically rice and curries in a clay bowl.. it gives an authentic feel.. a traditional way of having rice... it simply blowed my mind away... could say Ghar ki yaad aaya... and about kadukka nirachathu... it was spicy .. it’s a seafood based dish... Restaurant is mostly full... specially on weekends... food is great...
Best Place for Chatti chor!!The restaurant is famous for chatti choru (A signature dish). Chatti choru means a combination of rice, curd, curry (chicken/beef/prawns), pickle, kootu, fried piece of selected type and pappad served in a clay pot /plate. The prices are reasonable and the outstanding quality. The quantity is reasonable. However in lunch time this is the main menu item in the restaurant they serve chicken biriyani too.The restaurant is located near Emarat Petrol bunk near lulu Hypermarket in Karama (ADCB Metro station). Please book the table prior on weekends. It will be a huge crowd else you might required to wait for an hour at least to get inside.
Had chicken kanthari kuppy soup, appam, porotta, beef varattiyathu, kanthari crab and tea. Except for the super yum crab dish everything else was average. The service at this outlet is extremely poor. Long waiting hrs, non attentive staff, cold food were all turn offs. Even the payment facility by card was unavailable. 3 stars - only for the crab curry.
Food was such a disaster that I had a an upset stomache right after leaving from the restaurant. Happened to vist the restaurant last friday. Place was crowded.Had to wait around 30 mins to find a place. Ordered 1 meal , fish fry and Beef kuttichira roast. Meals and fish fry was average. Beef roast was disaster. It resembled me of mango pickle. Even i asked the waiter about the colour spilled on it. Totally messed with added colours and uncooked masalas and the meat pieces were not good and at all. Mostly fat and waste from meat which is given to dogs was the main content. hardly you could find a real piece of meat. It took 2 days to get rid of the colour from my hand. Attaching the pictures hereby. Let the image express itself.
This is a Kerala thattukada themed restaurant that serves excellent Malabar food. The settings resemble village thattukada or street side eateries. The atmosphere and ambiance are really good. The staff are very helpful and service is great. The food is really great and the meat items are excellent. There is a traditional Malabar flavor to the menu. There are traditional and rustic flavoured dishes like Beef kizhi, konchu kizhi, grandmothers chicken curry, beef fry, biryani and so on. The kizhi is an excellent dish to try. There are special deserts like ilaneer payasam.
One of the most iconic places which has its branch here in Dubai. Simple and a humble place. I would ask you to try everything there but if you want to be creative go for BEEF CHATTI PERAK. Superb.
Its average tasty kerala restaurant, wrong advertisements, the picture I posted is normal chicken 65 dry fry with bone, they name is eri pori fry, its full portion and priced and 35, its worth aed 22 max. Normal kerala porotta aed 2. Their pricing is expensive compare to quality quantity and taste wise. There is no manager to hear guest feed back. One time try only.
Went to the restaurant and it was my first time trying malayalam food. It was amazing! We had the coconut curry fish along with a beef dish. The place is very clean and they make food full of flavor. If you have gluten allergies or problems with dairy it is no problem as they mainly use coconut milk in their dishes.100% will be going again to try other variety of dishes. Definitely make a good impression on me
Worst hotel for Onam Sadhya. Don’t destroy your onam. We bought 13 onam meals from this hotel last year. The food was horrible, bad, items were missing and very less quantity. We threw most of the items in bin. Dont ever buy from this BAD hotel. The AED 35 sadhya was not even worth AED 5.
Worst Onam Sadhya : Please avoid this restaurant for you Onam sadhya. We bought Onam Sadhya last year and it was the worst food we ever had. First, curries were bad and filled with water (to increase volume). In some parcels few curries were missing (when we opened at our home). Ustad destroyed our Onam 2019. They dont take credit card for Onam Sadhra- no bill, may be to cheat on VAT
Not good at all. The food is not like before, pallichor and chattichor was one thing I used to crave for from this hotel. But yesterday we had the same thing and it was worst. The quantity of the food was so less and after eating half chatti I felt like baloon I am sure they mix something in the food to make your tummy fill like a baloon . Very bad taste and plus theyve rised the price too.
Awesome food , especially the beef fry which comes with chatti choru. Keep up the good work guys. 👏👏👏
Chatty chor... 👍
I was terribly missing Kerala as every year I take a trip down to my home during this time. Thanks to Corona it is not happening tjis year That is why I have decided to visit a Kerala restaurant. Im still waiting for the food after 3 calls and 1 hour 40 minutes. It seems their delivery person lost the way to Fairmont hotel in shk Zayed road. I called them Everytime requesting a call back after they speak to the driver. Every time they didnt care. Its awefully bad delivery. Definitely dont recommend to order food. *Update - I got the food after 2 hours 15 minutes. The restaurant people blamed the delivery guys, and delivery person blaming the restaurant people. Nice combo. Best part was pallichor was not so good.
Great food a must go for all South Indians and pretty much every one who would like to experience the south India cuisine. The ambiance is based of a South Indian movie and I feel like they have captured it essence perfectly!
Chicken Biriyani a FavouriteTheir chicken Biriyani and the bitter guard pickle combination is a must.Portions are perfectCost friendly for bachelors.Ambience is good for a quick lunch.
Beef chattiperakku 👌 Must try this from Ustad Hotel...
Good one
Awesome food
Good kerala food. Good ambience. Hygiene can be a little better. The wash area and toilets are not clean at all times. Food is really good and tasty!
Good n tasty food for the palate. Slightly high pricing. Nice Ambience. Good to try it out at least once...
Nice food, nice nostalgic ambience and good staffs, only thing is their chatti mutton rice, we once bought was having only bones and rice we didnt get meat in it. But meals and biryani is good
Must try item chatti perak aka chatti chor. Rice served along with beef curry, chammanthi, thoran, curd, papadam and beef fry in a mud plate. So yummy..
Amazing South Indian food
Must try special delicious “Chatti chor”. My all time favorite is beef Chatti chor. Quality food with an average price. Karama outlet is one step ahead from the other outlets interms of taste, service and even spacious.
A simple yet ‘Bring back to roots’ kinda cuisine, we tried the Meals at Ustad Hotel - The Fish based gravy also options with Sambar was nice. We also ordered the fish fry (AED 12/-) and the masala in the fish fry was nice along rice. Not a mandatory visit but a one time is what we thought it was worth for. Maybe for all the trouble of finding parking, this is why we thought the same!
Went today but beef chattichor was not available. So dont know about the details.
Good Kerala food. Food is quite spicy. Restaurant is crowded most of the times. Ambiance is not great and crowd management is also to be improved
Limited menu but contains all the essentials of the typical Kerala food. Quite cheap too. So if youre looking for Kerala Cuisine this the place to go
Most of items where not available @9pm. Disappointed customer who travelled all the way from Internetcity for the experience
Trendy dishes like chatty chor... Kerala foods...
Its not upto the hype of name.. Food taste is only avaerage and for the price its very bad. Had a meal and a Chatti Chooru there and its not good as Ive had better from nearby many restaurants for the same price. Too much waiting time also on Fridays.. Average Food But Costly..
Gone to have a good dining experience. When we see the queue in the ground, it increases the expectations. Finally when tables, we identify that the people sitting down is the queue that they manually created as a marketing technique. Tables were identified free. When we seat, almost 3 another tables were free. Some times after, almost 10 minutes, one more table is filled and 2 tables were seeing free again. Now we ordered the Kozhikoden Chicken biriyani and Beef Biriyani. The experience is embarrassing in such a way, the Dum Biriyani ordered will get a Curry Biriyani and they claim it’s Dum Biriyani. Later when we again asked repeatedly, they accept its their type dum Biriyani and it’s a mistake that the quality of Biriyani is such bad especially beaf has only bones and mere meat as well as Biriyani is full of curry. Bad experience overall and I never suggest the same to anyone else. They behaviour from the staff is such a bad and it never seem to follow hygienic routine instructed by Dubai Public Health Authority and Municipality.
Authentic southi indian cuisine
Very much satisfied with their chatti choru. very crowded some time we have to wait for the seats and all it is because of the tasty food. Reasonable price for the meals. They serve keralite food mostly. Freindly staffs and they are hesitating to give more curries for the unlimited sides for the meals.really appreciated.
The main attraction here is the chattichoru...whichis very yummy and so long waiting to have this..
Ustad hotel : one of the over rated restaurant in dubai,The meal is very bad, taste is awful, they cheated us by high priced food and so poor quality.Dont go there if you love to eat good food especially kerala mealsEven if we informed the management they are not even considering our words.
One of the south Indian restaurant where you find almost all sorts of Keralite special dishes. I liked their Chatti Choru (beef) a lot and their Dum Biriyani..
A variety of sides for non veg meals
Simple yummy food. We love this place. Just the parking is struggle.
Traditional Kerala meal served in an earthenware bowl. Personally I loved the meal.
Good quality food with less preservatives
We had meals, and it was pretty good. Reasonable rate.
A complete keralite feel..the hotel and the interiors hav a nostalgic old kerala inside.. chatti choru is one of the most demanding dishes here.. availabel in 3 varities of chikn beef and fish chatty choru.. biriyani s also nice here.... mostly weekend noons are rush hours here..
Worst service. Food is horrible. Ordered something and got something else. When asked the answer was even funny. IFood just finished and they served something else without even asking.
Good food, hence very crowded place on weekends. Should be prepared for handling such rush hours. Otherwise, a must visit 👍
Food was Tasty and Nice. But should have more space and more dishes....
Located in Al karama, this is one Brilliant place if you love South Indian food.😍Went there at about noon time and had to wait for about an hour to get a table. The service was excellent . Ordered a beef fry which tasted like heaven🙌🏽 must go if you are a malayalee🌴😁
Nice place for south Indian food lovers. Tastey and healthy
