I was taking a stroll after a relaxing day at the beach (from Corniche to World Trade Center) when I came across this cultural treasure. I was in awe from afar and I got so excited when I found out that the museum is open until 9pm.Ticket price: 30 dirhamsUpon entry, you will embark into the rich history of the region through modern and artistic renders projected on the white halls. The exhibit also showcases artifacts and vintage pieces which dates back to the early settlers and inhabitants of the realm. The highlight of the tour is the structure itself which was once the actual residence of the rulers of land. You will get a glimpse of their simple way of life, traditions and customs that paved way into shaping the contemporary Abu Dhabi that we all know today.

The ticket is for 30 aed. The museam is inside the palace which gives a brief idea about how the Abu Dhabi city became populated and came into existence. As compared to the Palaces and Forts in India, Qasr Al Hosn is very small. But they have maintained it well and have used visuals through projectors and sounds from the speakers to recreate the the old times. Good place to visit if you like to know the history of the city.

Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest and most significant building in Abu Dhabi, holding the city’s first permanent structure; the watchtower. Built around the 1790’s, the commanding structure overlooked the costal trade routes and protected the growing settlement established on the island. Over the centuries, Qasr Al Hosn has been home to the ruling family, the seat of government, a consultative council and a national archive; it now stands as the nation’s living memorial and the narrator of Abu Dhabi’s history. Transformed into a museum in 2018 following more than eleven years of intensive conservation and restoration work. This fort is a must visit for all tourists to Abu Dhabi. visitors get a glimpse of the prevalent culture, history and way of life in the bygone era.

We were impressed with the restoration work done on this historic landmark in central Abu Dhabi. We were told that the first restoration work done in the 80s was a botched job as the decision to plaster over the original structure proved the wrong one. Now that the second restoration effort which was a painstaking process of revealing the original structure (albeit not in total) is complete the palace has returned to its former glory. The long hallways house chambers, each with a story to tell, and we would recommend you take the time to visit each chamber to truly immerse yourself in Abu Dhabi’s rich culture and history. We were also told that the Abu Dhabi Trade Centre tower tops are angled to align with this splendid palace. A true testament to both old and new Abu Dhabi!

This wonderful ancestral home of the Al Nahyan is the oldest building on Abu Dhabi island and honours the memory of Sheikh Zayed who did so much to drag his country into the 20th century that originated with the Bani Yas in the 1760’s. This palace was a cultural and political hub for Abu Dhabi the economy prior to 1929 was based on the pearl industry but the great depression essentially killed the industry. Before the internet Zayed used short wave radio listening essentially to the BBC and American stations to get a perspective of what was going on in the world and encourage investment in the gas and oil industry. He was an entrepreneur and innovator and did so much for his country by interfacing with world leaders to encourage industry. He led both social and economic reform. Trace the history of this through the various exhibits and rooms.

However, There is no AC in the 2nd part sheikh rooms, not recommended at the summer.- there is also separate part called the house of artisan ( the black building once you leave the 2nd part): well ventilated & you can buy memorial stuff their.
