Loved it! Yes, not much is open as of now. And yes, the self driving cars are not operating weekends, but only during the working week days. However, this is a real hidden gem of a place in Abu Dhabi! It is free of charge, has a nice and large parking area, views of the city from outside the Artificial intelligence university are stunning...and there is an open air monuments exposition of authors from around the world! Architecture admirers will be impressed. This place is totally worth visiting!

Masdar townit was supposed to be a completely self-sufficient energy and ecological town.At first glance, it makes a rather sad impression because it is mainly a scientific and research center and the whole clou is in the vision of this place. The idea is that the town is energy independent and uses as little as possible, and to minimize the use of water and waste production. The town is powered by one of the largest solar power plants in the Middle East, probably capable of producing 10 megawatt of energy at the peak. The power plant consists of almost 90,000 panels, which can be seen on the photos. These modules are cleaned by self-propelled robots that remove dust and sand from them.Theoretically, you can visit the town - the admission is free, but it must be open, which means you have to get there when people work there. You can not drive into the town by car - you have to leave it in the parking lot.You can probably get around the town in two ways - electric vehicles, some unmanned miracle ...and ... on foot, because the architecture of the town is constructed along some kind of wind tunnel, thanks to which in theory even the greatest heat of the air gives a refreshing breeze;).I do not guarantee - I did not check. But they say so.The architecture itself refers to traditional buildings and for visitors (and not only) pubs and food stores with organic food are available.

We visited Masdar City when there was an fun event for families going. If you are interested in sustainable environments this place is worth a visit. The buildings demonstate a variety of ways in which we can live in greater harmony with our environment and the driverless buses are interesting too.We wanted to know more info about the project, but there no tour guide and going inside the buildings are not allowed for visitors.

Visiting Masdar City...a smart city in the middle of open land. A wonderful combination of modern and emirate country traditional. Iconic tower as a source of blowing winds to chill out buildings. Solar panels on the most of roof top is one of a wise choice to save the energy. It is a new smart and little giant city.

While much of the original intent of Masdar City has been stepped back from, the city does showcase what is possible in developing a more sustainable neighbourhood. I particularly liked the autonomous vehicles that whisk you from the car park into the middle of the City.

The park situated on the North side has a nice track for walking and jogging. It appears to be a great destination for many inhabitants of the city and can become crowded at times. The walking / jogging path goes through several solar energy projects and has several resting and cooling off areas with water fridges, although these were empty at the time of my visits. Other parts have children recreation areas and playgrounds.

Its a very beautiful place to visit and has some alright offerings regarding food. No shopping though. My biggest concern is the fact that some of its main attractions are either not working or suspended. For example, the self driving cars that took you from the parking lot to the main Plaza are currently not working. As well as some of its futuristic features which the whole of the city are known for.

New city based on the concept of sustainable energy. They call it carbon free city aswell, but I believe that 0% carbon production city would be the most appropriate word for it. It has a shuttle service comprised of electric cars for the residents to move around in the city for free. Most of the city is under construction. Most popular places are Khalifa University Masdar Campus, City Center and Madar Park.

Masdar City is a planned city project in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. Its core is being built by Masdar, a subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company, with the majority of seed capital provided by the Government of Abu Dhabi. Designed by the British architectural firm Foster and Partners, the city relies on solar energy and other renewable energy sources. Masdar City is being constructed 17 kilometres (11 mi) east-south-east of the city of Abu Dhabi, beside Abu Dhabi International Airport.Masdar City hosts the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The city is designed to be a hub for cleantech companies. Its first tenant was the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, which has been operating in the city since it moved into its campus in September 2010

The extraordinary landmark developed by government of Abu Dhabi,a must visit destination for UAE visitors. The place is extraordinary and comes as real commitment and vision of the rulers. The Mass at has totally powered by solar power. Another important feature of this place is the claim that the temperature here is at least 10 degrees less than the rest of the city. Has a free zone well managed and great place to work with a great ambience. The wind tower is a must see. Has a very reasonably priced food court, convenience store etc. The ever expanding both in side as well as the commitment to eco power and other developments are worth paying a visit.

This whole concept is a glorified scam. Want to see how so,try looking at the details, the walls ,the leaks, the mold and mildew, a self driving car that is decades behind what Disney has in its parks for ride vehicles. This is where your money goes to die and feed the sleezy scam artists that claim to be making a difference. There are real people making a difference in sustainability out there, and this IS NOT ONE OF THEM
